What's often missed out is Bob's brief phase in 1977-8 when he had a mid-life crisis:
As you can see here, he grew a pony tail, got really into Steely Dan and hung out with Derren Nesbitt and Anouska Hempel. Things came to a head when Ronnie Moran, driven into a rage after Bob had played 'The Royal Scam' non-stop in the Boot Room for three days in succession, slapped Bob about the face and neck until he came to his senses and asked for a mug of tea.
