Sack Race 22/23

Why were they without manager? Are they not having a good season? Given their European exploits, I am surprised at this announcement!

Club Brugge have fired coach Carl Hoefkens despite him leading the Belgian club to their first ever place in the last 16 of the Champions League this season.

His sacking was announced on Wednesday and comes after a run of poor domestic form, including an embarrassing 4-1 home defeat by St Truiden in the Belgian Cup last week and a 1-1 home draw with OH Leuven in the league on Tuesday, which left the champions in fourth place, 12 points behind leaders Racing Genk.

The 44-year Hoefkens had only been in the job six months, stepping up from the role of assistant to take over from Alfred Schreuder, who left for Ajax Amsterdam after winning the Belgian league last season.

Hoefkens, whose playing career took in spells at Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, made an impression with Club Brugge in the group stage of the Champions League, where they won their first three matches and were early qualifiers for the last 16.

They’re fucked. Especially when the true owner is subject to Russian sanctions. They can’t afford to sack him and can’t afford to not sack him at the same time.

Lampard must be laughing his head off, guy getting paid handsomely to manage a team he doesn't give a fuck about.....and will get a pay off once he's sacked tomorrow.

And forever by a man that other teams might think can save them from relegation. Hes a less talented Pardew

You've pretty much made it in life when you enter coaching especially the players who once played in the top flight.

Coaching badges handed out to anyone that signs up, Lampard Gerrard Arteta Carrick Parker etc. These now have a good 30 year career in management to look forward to, not giving a fuck where they go because in the back of their minds they'll know and as Simon Jordan alludes to many times, you can get sacked as many times they'll always be another opportunity waiting in line for you.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Imminent announcement incoming :( and I don't think it's going to be a contract extension.

I hear Norwich are about to appoint David Wagner!!!

I hope they realise it’ll be temporary before he replaces his good mate Jurgen!!!

Imagine being Roberto Martinez. Get Wigan relegated, he gets a better job at Everton. Do nothing of note at Everton, hounded out - hey, Belgium will hire you. Squander Belgium's golden generation, off to Portugal to lead another side with genuine aspirations to win things.

Keep failing up, buddy, and being a shining example to the rest of us.

Two match days later we play Everton. Hoping Frank sticks around til then, although we could put him out of his misery and Potter into that job.
Chelsea won't sack Potter. They have 11 injuries at present. Missing many top players. He'll get this season and next.
