Not one over will be easy. We need Anderson to have the series of a life imo.
uh huh.
One of the few things you got wrong oncy.
Yup. Fairly inconsequential past the halfway point.
I would suggest though that the performance of our late mid/tail with the bat (prior, swann, broad, anderson) was key to us winning the ashes. They all played a big part. A tail like that is huge. That old Aussi team batted to 9 with only Gilly and Mcgrath easy wickets. Not one of our bowlers gave up their wickets, it was great to see.

agree, this is a massive reason why Monty will never shift Swan from the team even if Swanny bowls badly

Yeah without a doubt.

All through the series the lower order seemed to be able to put on some very decent runs that proved to be very important.

The future looks bright for this England team.

They pulled out a stat during the 4th test saying the score during the series for the first 5 wickets was like 950 and for the last five wickets was 910ish. Our tail was immense.

I don't think it's that cut and dried. Swann can bat better in his sleep than dear ol' Monty ever will, but the Urban Turban's batting support for Anderson was vital in saving the First Test, and when he's on form he's a better attacking bowler than Swann. It's Swann's place to lose, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Collingwood's been living on thin ice for far too long.

He's just not good enough for test cricket

I agree, I think his ability to field is far too overvalued. I would rather we had another big run scorer there instead.

Ha.

Whatever Ryan said the opposite seemed to happen. It got to the stage where i was seriously worrying when he started to say "it was Englands to lose".

I like Ponting as a man and a Cricketer but he should hand over the reins. Decisions decided this series, not Cricket. England were the better team in 2 games, Australia were the better team in 2 games, yet poor decisions cost them 1 obvious impending win, and influenced the other games. Australia had the top ranked batsmen AND bowlers yet were beaten. And without a serious fight in my opinion.
I'm glad Freddie got the win in his last series and they respect him immensely over here. They are talking about wholesale changes to the team but I think they're going to have to suffer a lull before they're great again. England winning the Ashes over here would be immense, that should be the aim.

This would be the same England team that scraped a win over Ireland a couple of days ago ?

Australia must be really really shit

Ha

I heard your Aussie had a great game.

The Aussies could well struggle for quite a while yet. The problem they've got is that by the time some of the younger players have settled into the side, they'll need to replace the likes of Lee, Ponting, S Clark, Hussey and maybe even a few more of the current squad.

I don't think replacing Lee and S Clark will be a huge issue. The spinner issue is more concerning.

Replacing Hussey is not a huge issue either. Watson can drop down to the middle order if need be, as Phil Hughes will get a chance to re-establish himself.

Well we wouldn't need that Aussie if England didn't keep robbing our best players.
