It'd be safe to say that he won't get the Chelsea game now, nor will Clattenburg get another Liverpool game so soon. I'm not sure if Webb is allowed to ref another LFC-CFC game this season after he officiated the game at Stamford Bridge.

That leaves a few options for the Chelsea game.

1. Martin Atkinson. I think he's the most likely candidate for the Anfield game.

2. Lee Mason. What a terrifying thought. Shit ref, and yeah, the ref for the away game against City.

3. Phil Dowd. I used to not mind him, but he's getting a bit irritating these days. And he doesn't seem fond of Suarez.

4. Anthony Taylor, Kevin Friend, Lee Probert, Chris Foy, Jonathan Moss. Haven't gotten a big game this season; I'm not sure they'll get one now. Good news - in the case of Friend and Taylor. Taylor was the horrid ref from the West Ham game, and Friend did us no favours in the Sunderland game.

If Webb doesn't qualify, then I think it'll be one of the first three who gets the call - Atkinson, Mason or Dowd. Rather Atkinson than any of the other two.

I don't mind that ref that looks like Plan B. Michael Oliver is it? Yeah he'll do

Oh yeah, left out Oliver. That is a good option too. I thought that he would belong to the Chris Foy class of referees who didn't get a big game this season, but I was wrong. He's ref'd several big games this season - a couple of London derbies (Chelsea - Spurs, Arsenal - Spurs), the Manchester derby, Man Utd - Arsenal. He could be a prime candidate for this game, given he hasn't actually ref'd a major LFC game this season.

Last time he ref'd our game was early-December when we beat the Hammers at Anfield.

Good to have him in the mix too.

It'll probably be Michael Oliver.

Webb will probably not get another Liverpool game after that horrendous performance against Arsenal.

Hope so. Looking at the assignments he's been getting this season, he looks like the next ref they're going to try and promote. Would take him over Atkinson, Dowd and Mason, in that order.

Kevin Friend is the worst of them.
He's done his best on numerous occasions to see us beat.
Can't we have clatterburg for 2 out of the four.

Not really on topic but I'm getting the feeling that some of the refs are favouring us.

We've had some dodgy decisions go our way these last few games and I'm starting to wonder if they're in some way helping us. Of course they can't really make it too obvious but all this talk about us winning the league is a "win for English football" might have affected the refs and maybe even the FA.

Yes, I know how daft it sounds.

Are you kidding? Of course they are. The decisions we've been getting are insane.

It may feel like it given some of the silly decisions but - I think we are reading too much into it.

Not sure what the assignment rules are, but I don't think I've seen that happen, browsing through the assignments of individuals. I've seen at least one case of a ref getting the same team a month apart, but 2 games in 3 (in Clattenburg's case) would be pretty unusual.

I think Leo was saying that in jest.

But that's also ignoring the dodgy decisions given against us.

City should have had three pens and most days Suarez would have been sent off.

Makes me worry another ref will look at it and try to balance it out. But they probs won't.

Suarez just needs to get back to scoring and looking happy.
I sincerely hope he scores against Norwich so that he's much more calm against Chelsea than he was against City. Cause those cunts will be doing their upmost to get him sent off.

Why should Suarez have been sent off?

The "dive"? I'm sure MOTD showed that there was contact and he fell over the defenders foot.

Is there something I'm missing?

No, there isn't. Zabaleta on the other hand got away with a clear handball which should have meant his second yellow, and Kompany clearly fouled Suarez twice in the area with nothing being given. The decision-making was by no means as one-sided as some here are trying to make out, for whatever reason.

It was the biggest league game of the season and the ref didnt want to give any "controversial" calls either way, its hardly shocking or surprising.

Suarez didnt warrant another yellow card imho. There was contact there. Both we and City could have had a couple of penalties but that even itself out.

I need to see this again. Because as far as I saw, there was absolutely no contact and he blatantly dived.

I think we're getting a very slight bias, as in 50/50 decisions sway to us more often than not, simply cos it's easier as a ref to not make a decision that could cost us the league title in favour of another club getting three points that don't matter as much.

They're most likely just covering their own arses so in the event they call it wrong they're not the ref all over the papers the next day for ruining our chances through error.

When we play Chelsea that won't be the case, & if palace are battling relegation it won't be either.

However, I think one thing you can guarantee is that referees all respect, if not like, Gerrard & that may help a little too.

I watched it again, and I can only conclude that he dived. I'd love to hear the MotD analysis though.
