brb runners-up in the Copa del Rey, knocked out of the quarterfinals of the CL, four points out of first place in La Liga...obviously time to lose their minds.

Some translation from the video... "Tata out!", "Tata you son of a bitch!", "Messi, run less!", To Pinto: "Butter hands! Remove that Tomb Raider ponytail!", and one of the guys says about Fabregas "What a package (present) that Guardiola brought us!"

One of them also said, "If you were not a friend of Messi, you would be on the fucking street" right before they called out Pinto.

My experience with spanish football supporters is that they are incredibly unforgiving, even during a game. There's very little sympathy. You take that general attitude, then years of having a fucking incredible team, and then the subset of that group that has time and the inclination to shout at a coach, and you get this dumb video.

The camera zoomed in to one of their fans teary-eyed last night, he looked about 25 years old. Wise the fuck up, it's not like there has been a lack of trophies recently.

Both Madrid and Barca fans have very short fuses as they're used to success and star players year after year. A small blip gets you the sack out there, so with Tata winning fuck all and possibly finishing 3rd, I'd expect him to be gone the end of the season.

I don't think so personally. The manager has tried to change how they play and it hasn't worked. He'll be fired for sure.

Need new goalie
Need two CBs probably ...
Need new CM
Need new striker

Neymar was a really poor buy too it seems ...

Tata for now.
He's got some of the best players of the last decade and thinks a good idea to change a winning formula.

Granted he's had a few injuries to deal with, but he's giving Moyes a run for his money in the WTF stakes.

I've been critical of Tata from very early on. I remember Ballague arguing with someone on Sky about him - maybe Santi Solari, can't quite remember - and saying he's been poor yet the answer was that Barca were top of the table and winning so how much can you criticize. I guess things are very different now. They'll win nothing this season after pretty much throwing the league away.

They've missed Pique at the back and losing Valdes at such a critical point in the season has been a huge blow. Then there is the sidelining of Pedro and Sanchez who both started the season well in favour of Neymar who isn't ready to play all the time yet. The main issue however has been Messi who since returning from injury has just not been the same player. He is missing that extra sharpness and ruthlessness in front of goal, but most of all, he's drifting in and out of games. Whether that's more down to the player or the manager, I don't know.

They don't need a major overhaul though in my opinion.

The defence needs sorting out. Pique is injured far too often, Puyol is done, which leaves them very light - Bartra and Maschareno as a pairing just isn't good enough and that's been very evident in the last few weeks. One top class CB would go a long way.

Then there is the attack. Fabregas up top needs to stop. I think Neymar can prove to be a good buy but they need to figure out how best to use him and how to get Messi back in the middle of things again because at the moment, and it's odd to be saying this about Barcelona, the attack is dysfunctional. Maybe another option would be nice like an out and out striker.

In the middle they're okay. It's a real shame they lost Thiago, but in Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and Fabregas they've still got a great quartet.

They're not far off needing a rebuild though, they need at least 1 goal keeper, at least 1 centre back, Xavi is 34, Iniesta is 31 this year, and when the new manager comes in he might want a number 9 instead of keep blagging it with messi and neymar.
And they're banned from incoming transfers for 2 windows.

I thought Messi was taking it easy because of the world cup when he came back from injury, but now I'm not so sure, maybe he doesn't like Tata's style of play or something - Tata seems to like get the ball out wide and stretch play that way, whereas Pep and Messi have had their most success when they've channeled everything down the middle.

Iniesta is 30 this year. Xavi can keep going for a couple years yet I reckon.

If they replace Valdes, bring in a new CB and a forward, that's only three players. Hardly a huge rebuilding job. This summer is a bit like the one Rijkaard left - they need a manager to come in, sort shit out and reignite the players passion.

The big questions will come when the Xavi / Iniesta partnership is something they can no longer rely on over the course of the season, i.e. when Xavi steps out of the first team. You'd think Fabregas would able to slot into that role seamlessly but he's kinda lost his identity somewhat at Barca and they might look elsewhere. it'll be interesting to see if they try and maintain the same style or rebuild completely.
