So there was a lot of talk while he was injured and Kelleher was playing well that many would be happy to see him leave at the end of the season and have our new signing come in and compete with Kelleher.

With Kelleher set to leave I’m assuming everyone wants Allison to stay on as no1?

Personally I think he can be our no1 for the best part of the next decade.

Arsed either way... we currently have 3 top goalkeepers.

When Alisson stays fit he's amazing. But the key word there is staying fit.
Allison is so far ahead of the other two it’s not funny.

Our new boy made the most mistakes leading to goals in La Liga last season. He’s got a lot to learn.

I'm not convinced it's either a question. Kelleher has one year remaining and will leave for whatever we get from him.

Marma has had a mixed and unconvincing year in La Liga and hasn't played in the Prem. It only becomes a thing if Alis form significantly drops off, his injuries become routine and Marma absolutely smashes it in his absence. Not unfathomable but all of the combined are probably unlikely in the next year. Kelleher has come close to that scenario and still been unable to displace him. Alis performance against PSG got him talked about (again) as the finest keeper in the continent and beyond, so we shouldn't underestimate how high the bar is.

Him having an uninterrupted season is the exception not the norm.

I’d be surprised if Alisson extends past the end of his current contract in 2 seasons time.

I suspect that’s why we brought Marmardashvili in.

It may be Marma is coming in because Kelleher may have made it clear, he is not continuing as number 2 after next season. Not sure if Ali would not want a new contract with LFC the way things are going for him, he seems to be happy with us.

Yeah, that’s definitely part of it, Kelleher will likely have indicated he’ll not sign another contract to sit on the bench.

I can’t see Marma coming to spend his prime years on the bench either, so he’ll either be given a chance to “dethrone” Ali or he’ll likely want out in a year or two.

Alisson will be 33 in October, so he’ll be close to 35 when his current contract expires - I suspect he might enter the rolling 1 year offer window phase of his life cycle at the club, or if he wants to move back home or fancies a new challenge we’ll let him go.

A lot will depend on how Marma does and what Ali’s injury and form looks like over the next few years - we’ve seen in past that sometimes drop off can be cliff edge stuff in the mid 30’s.

If Ali walked at the end of his contract, I don't think anyone begrudge him. He deserves to collect his pension in Saudi or USA

I would. Call me bitter but 33 is no age for a keeper to join a retirement league. Van de Sar joined United at 34 and retired with a further 4 titles and a CL. Extreme example but Ali should be aiming to win as much as he can. I'm sure he'll want to be in Ancelottis eye, too. He might get Brazil cooking.

In two years time when his contract ends. He will be 34/35. Lets not forget we bought in a keeper to phase Ali out.

The issue isn’t the quality but that he’s made of glass. Will his injury record improve with old age? Probably not.

He'll be 35 in 2027. If you read the letter he wrote about his father's passing, I think it's quite clear he wants to spend another 2 years here, and then head home to Brazil. Can't begrudge that. Hopefully we win another league title and the CL before that. Perfect swansong for 3 legends - Alisson, VVD and Salah.

I've no idea what will happen with Ali, he's earned the right to engineer his own move at the end of his contract.....if he's happy to stay beyond then the club will give him a new deal, of that I'm sure.

He's arguably the best keeper in the world still, certainly top 3 - it's tight between him, Courtois and Donnarumma.

Hes the best there is, the best there was, the best there will be.
