Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes their attacking play will go up a level with Glen Johnson and Dan Agger in defence.

"We want to improve our power in attack, this is our idea," Benitez told liverpoolfct.tv.

"There have been games in the past we have played with three centre backs and two offensive full backs, it depends on the game.

"But normally we play with a line of four in defence because this suits the way we play on most occasions.

"We were talking last season about the draws we had at home and when teams play really deep against you, you need quality in the full back and central defensive positions.

"When we talk about Daniel Agger scoring goals and using the ball well it is because we know that these qualities are necessary if you want to turn the draws into wins."

Music to Spidey's ears, eh?

Well, it was those home draws that cost us the title in the end. So, it's heartening to hear Rafa pinpoint that, even if it is the bleeding obvious.

Agger, when fit, must start all home against the sides intent on a draw.

I'm a fan of Alvaro and I'm not sure defensively if there is a lot between him and Johnson. However despite supporting the right midfielder/winger extremely well, when Alvaro did get into decent attacking positions, his delivery often let him down. I feel and hope Johnson will just add that extra quality with the ball in the final third, which could just make the difference.

Another top attacking player would be good too, of course.
