Blame Rodgers

... and not Milner for missing a great opportunity early on (and playing a terrible game)
... and not the shithouse ref for booking Milner after one foul and letting Tettey foul ... and foul ... and foul
... and not Studge for missing a peach of a chance
... and not Coutinho for missing chance ... after chance ... after chance ...
... and not Coutinho again for deciding to pass up a simple square pass to Ings on a 2 on 1

This team should have hammered Norwich. Manager isn't great, but maybe the players aren't anything special either.

It is down to the manager that we don't have a player that get pissed off when the play don't click. It is just a big meh. We need a Masch. We need a leader.

Milner as a captain is a big joke.

We started well, and looked to be heading the right way but the subs blunted our attack

There's no either/or here, not a meaningful one anyway. Everybody deserves a share of the blame. The players let themselves down too often, but Rodgers is ultimately responsible.

Nah, only Rodgers. Lnce we fire him, watch how quickly we turn on the cunt we sign to replace him.

I have already pointed out many times that everything isn't Rodgers fault. FSG need to get a top class DoF in. Someone that can build up a good organization. We are signing to many players we don't need, players that don't fit the system.

Subbing on Lallana for Sturridge was poor. Should have been Firmino and continued with the same formation.

We have loads of good players but it would be much better if the players were in a settled system that played to their strenghts.
For the upteenth time we start the season with a 4-3-3 but that doesnt work and we start searching for something that might work.

Stick with a system and buy players that fit into that style of play.

When Lallana was walking around reading a note and some of the players were saying "whats happening? Where am I playing?" Christ.

Okay we created chances, but we still played like shit most of the time.
And we still look like a bunch of players that was assembled yesterday
And we still can't defend, or have someone at the club who can identify a semi-decent CB.
And even Roy Hodgon managing this team today would have won, I am absolutely certain of that.

We haven't quickly turned on Rodgers! Where does this come from?

It's his 4th season and we're not really better off than his first season despite spending loads. The only mark Rodgers has stamped on the team is the lack of organisation in defense and the lack of fight when the match takes a turn against us.

This.

Today wasn't a terrible performance by the team, or any player in particular.

I don't get the point of this thread anyway - if you're looking to analyse each individual game without context to gauge whether Rodgers is the right man for us, then you're really missing the point.

Rodgers needs to go because we've been shit for more than 6 months now. There's no discernible philosophy, no consistency in formations, and worst of all, there are regular signs of the players not responding at all to the manager.

you forget the first season ... he was ripped many times ...

Our corners are horrendous.

Can we go back to basics of sticking someone at either posts when defending corners. We have conceded 2 now which could be avoided if we had a man there.

Can Coutinho actually pass rather than shoot all of the time?

well, your second sentence is the reason

There's always some but I think Rodgers lost the majority of fans when his team surrendered in the run of matches against Man United, Arsenal and the semi final against Villa last season.

Yeah, but what turns on today's performance?

We've been spanked 6-1 by Stoke, 3-0 by West Ham and 3-1 by United in our last 5 games. And we've failed to beat Norwich at home today.

The question at this stage is hardly whether fans need to support a manager, but whether keeping this man in charge will do further damage to this club.

At this stage, I am utterly convinced that we will not finish higher than 6th or 7th this season. When we have easily the 5th best squad in the league.

The earlier we stem the rot the better.

Wank thread and stupid opening post.... we play an ok game against a pool Norwich and we get a hard needed point. But it is not a game to point us in either direction!

Rodgers should long ago have a settled system and only sign players to fit that system. Why did he sign Firmino for £29m? We don't have that kind of money that we can sign a backup to Coutinho for £29m. My only guess is that we know that Coutinho will leave for Barcelona next season and Firmino is his replacement.

Don't understand all the 'woe is me' hand-wringing to be honest. We didn't win, and I'm unhappy with that, but we did play well, Norwich hardly had a sniff bar the Mignolet error and the Jarvis effort (well saved). And that was it.

There were a lot of players who had good games (Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Ings) and most of the others had decent games, no-one had a stinker (unless you want to count Mignolet for that error). In the end we were very unlucky not to win it, bar a keeping error we would have. There were of course areas we could improve upon, there always is no matter which team you are and how you played, but overall we were probably just a little too anxious in our finishing, understandable considering 5 games without a win before today.

I thought that overall it was a very encouraging performance, from the way we brought the ball out of defence (all of them really but especially Can and Sakho), the better passing and speed of switching play from one side to the other, to the width we showed for once and the support we had in and around the box. Keep playing like that and we'll start winning regularly.
