NORWICH City can confirm that a deal has been agreed to sign Dutch international striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant paperwork being completed.

The 24-year old, who is set to arrive on July 1 on a four-year contract, boasts an impressive goalscoring record across Europe, scoring 82 goals in 188 appearances for Sporting, FC Utrecht and Vitesse Arnhem.

Speaking exclusively to www.canaries.co.uk, Chris Hughton commented: “Ricky’s profile is a perfect fit for us – he’s young, ambitious and a proven goal-scorer.

“He has an excellent goal-scoring pedigree and he’s a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England. He’s already an exciting talent but he still has more development as a player ahead of him.

“I’m delighted we’ve been able to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon and with Ricky and we look forward to welcoming him to the squad in July, once all of the paperwork gets sorted out.”

Van Wolfswinkel has established himself as a bright striking talent in recent years after two prosperous seasons with Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon since signing for €5.1 million from FC Utrecht in June 2011.

Last season Van Wolfswinkel bagged 25 goals for Sporting in all competitions and has added 14 for them so far in what has been a more challenging 2013-14 campaign for the Lisbon side.

It was his form with Dutch Eredivisie outfit FC Utrecht where he first caught the eye of European scouts however and collected a first cap for the Netherlands. In two seasons the 6 ft 2 striker scored 35 goals in 80 appearances.

Van Wolfswinkel started his career with Vitesse Arnhem having joined them as a youngster in 1999. After working his way through the youth academy he made his senior debut in 2008 and went on to score eight goals in 35 appearances.

Just joshing.
He's obviously going to have one great season scoring 39999 goals and we'll be crying why we didn't sign him

How was this transaction sanctioned when the transfer window is not opened yet?

But it signed in Jan When the windows open.

Similarly in this case too. Basically the deal has been confirmed but not completed.

"NORWICH City can confirm that a deal has been agreed to sign Dutch international striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant paperwork being completed"

So anyone can still sign him theoretically as there is no agreement yet

How can there be no agreement when its announced a deal has been agreed? 😛 Can't expect clubs to be talking only within the transfer window periods. Kagawa's deal, for instance, was announced on 5 Jun '12, ahead of the transfer window opening.

A club statement read: 'Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with both Borussia Dortmund and Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to the club.

The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June. Further details will be announced in due course.'

"We are very pleased that we have managed to sign one of the most sought after youngsters around in Europe in Xherdan Shaqiri," commented Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger.

Bayern Munich announced the summer signing of Shaqiri on 9 Feb '12 too.

Bayern Munich have announced on their official website that they have completed the summer transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri from Basel for an undisclosed fee. The Switzerland international has signed a four-year deal with Bayern, and will join his new club at the end of the current season.

I think that's a fantastic signing for them. I'm very surprised he went there, thought he was being lined up by quite a few big clubs.

Then what is the use of having a transfer window?

Players can only physically change club during them. It's like getting your car insurance organised a few weeks ahead of time, it's all done but it doesn't actually happen until the appropriate time.

So it stops teams getting torn apart and non stop speculation, image this Suarez shit all season too but with the possibility he could go at any time.

It does not make sense then there is so much scrambling during the windows. Why not get every transfers agreed before the windows.

Very good point. I presume clubs dont want to agree deals during the the season as it may 'unsettle' the player and he might start playing shit as he knows he's offski in the next window anyway.

it is better to focus on the team you have at the time instead of trying to get new players all season

Simao Mate - Levante (free transfer)

Spanish club Levante says it has signed Mozambique defensive midfielder Simao Mate through 2015.

The 24-year-old midfielder last played with Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super League, but new coach Radomir Antic released him earlier this year.

Simao said he has followed Levante over the past two years and liked its style, adding that "I hope that you guys will also like me as a player."

The midfielder said he needed to train some more to recover full match fitness.

Club president Francisco Catalan said "this signing will enrich our squad," and that Simao fulfilled one of the team's technical needs.
Simao also played for Panathinaikos from 2007-2012.

No financial details of Tuesday's signing were revealed.

Damn, looks like Djuricic's signing for Benfica in the summer. And for only 6m euros too. Looks like this was agreed in the middle of February too.

Van Basten: Benfica a nice club for Djuricic

Heerenveen boss Marco Van Basten understands why his player Filip Djuricic has decided to join Benfica in the summer.

With a reported move to FC Twente breaking down in January, Benfica have paid around €6 million for the Serbian attacking midfielder, a fee that could rise to eight million.

Speaking to De Telegraaf Van Basten confirmed the move, and said ”It’s a nice, big club, they play Champions league football, and thats what he wants”.

“I’ve read that it is a club he has long been a fan of. I think it’s good for him to take the next step, it’s good that he’s still not the heading to the big football nations, that's the third step.

This is a deliberate second step”

In a so far dismal league campaign, Djuricic has been one of the bright lights for Heerenveen, scoring five goals in 23 league matches.

Good move for him really . He will play Champions League , will be in the team and will be noticed more by scouts at bigger clubs who should see what a quality footballer he already is . We have scouts watching the Eredivisie supposedly so why they have not picked him up I do not know . Far better value than Eriksen is going to be .

Juanfran Moreno - Real Betis (free transfer)

The 24 year-old wide man will leave RM Castilla for free in the summer, following an offer of Primera football from Real Betis.

RM Castilla captain Juanfran, who mainly plays on the right flank and has featured in 31 matches in Liga Adelante this season, has finally received the chance in La Liga he’s been waiting for.

Up until now, Juanfran has only featured in two La Liga matches in his career so far. The first with Getafe as an 18 year-old, whilst his second outing was with Real Madrid as a 20 year-old.

Pepe Mel tried to sign the player last summer, but Real Madrid rejected an approach from Real Betis. With Juanfran out of contract this coming summer however, he’s turned down offers of a new deal and opted to seize an opportunity to make it in the top flight of Spanish football, with Real Betis having maintained their interest.

Real Madrid Castilla winger Juanfran Moreno will spend the next three seasons with Real Betis - a deal which the capital club will make official nearer the end of the current campaign. Betis were close to signing the right winger last season but Juanfran stayed on with the Madrid reserves at the express wishes of coach, Alberto Toril.

The 24-year-old has shown great versatility with Castilla, where he has been deployed at right-back, in the holding midfield slot as well as his natural position out on the wing. Betis feel that Juanfran is ready to make the leap from the Liga Adelante to the Liga BBVA.

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed the signing of Freiburg midfielder Jan Rosenthal on a Bosman transfer.

The 26-year-old has agreed a three-year deal and will move to the Commerzbank-Arena at the end of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt manager Armin Veh said: "He is an exceptional midfielder.

"You just have to congratulate Eintracht Frankfurt on signing Jan Rosenthal. I have been tracking his career for several years and wanted to capture him before when I was manager of VfB Stuttgart. Back then it did not work out.

"Jan Rosenthal is a clever player. He can feature as a striker and in attacking midfield. He could even play on the outside of midfield or in a holding position in the centre. He is a versatile player."

Well it wasn't just us that didn't pick him up !

Benfica seem to pick up quite a few potential 'big names of the future' it must be the promise of CL and getting pitch time (and sun and golf and beaches and food and sun ...) to say nothing of greater exposure to Spain clubs.
