Could Agger play DM?

I personally think a lot of our problems this season have stemmed around Lucas being out, not because he's the greatest player, but because of his ability as a DM. Protecting the back 4, helping out, picking up the ball from them, then playing a simple ball to people with footballing ability.

I think our midfield 3 is the wrong way round, we've got 2 deep lying players, pretending to be Lucas, and then one playing on the point, I think it needs to be the other way round. And I think we'd get the best out of people like Gerrard, Sahin, Allen, Shelvey if it was that way round.

As we currently don't have a replacement for Lucas in the squad, that can play as an out and out DM, with two CM's/AM's infront of him, could we use Agger? Does Agger have enough ability to play in the role? Could we afford to take him out of the back 4 and put Coates or Carra in there instead?

Or are we just knackered until Lucas gets back? (He about a month away?)

Interesting idea. It would depend how much we trust Coates to come in at CB but wouldn't be the worst shout. It would mean even more competition in midfield though!

A quick look on Physioroom.com says that Lucas is back on the 26th November (estimated) Is this right? I thought he was out a lot longer than that.

Move one of our better places out of position when we have no (decent!) cover!

Are you Rafa in disguise?

We need a DM, I wouldn't move one of better players out of position unless it was desperate, and it is.

I'm not opposed to giving Hendo a shot there, I'll try anyone, but we've got to get rid of this 2 deep lying CM's. It's ruining the games of our creative players making them play there. Gerrard is utterly ineffective as a creative force or goal threat, from that far deep, he needs to be in and around the box. He was good at spraying the passes around last night, but apart from a fluke long distance shot, he doesn't look like scoring these days as his shooting is woeful.
