cricket 20 20 world cup

Yup amazing brutal innings that, the bugger had to come off against us! I do think that was a win the toss win the game sort of pitch due to the amount of dew out there. Did you see the India game yesterday? the pitch was a disgrace really - especially as it is early in the tournament and it will be reused!

I guess whoever has the best spinners will have the best chance of slowing down these hitters ...

No spinner would have had a chance last night with a wet ball like that. Like spinning a wet bar of soap!

That Nagpur pitch on the other hand - wow

Bangladesh did the mother of all chokes today. 3 balls 2 runs to win and they lost.

What were they thinking!! trying to hit the ball out the park when they just needed a couple of singles - the red mist decended. There have been some cracking matches in this tournament so far.

They tried to do a Dhoni

Are we talking about the WI match yesterday? I was thinking the same when Brathwaite was playing and missing and ducking under bouncers in the penultimate over!

You think England can give us another chance to c.... by losing to Sri Lanka?

England nearly managed to throw that away after having Sri Lanka 15-4. Still, another really exciting game.

Always good to see the Aussies go out. It was a very exciting run chase by the Indians, made more difficult when Yuvraj sprained his ankle but insisted on staying at the crease!

The Afghan win against the WI's was a thriller too. Terrific tournament so far.
Fancy England to squeek into the final with the advantage of playing twice in that ground already, and the pitch not spinning too much

Ha one of those games when you want them both to lose! Great batting from Kohli though

Great tournament. England playing really well in patches and Root shaping up to be a difference maker this year.
New Zealand should win it but we have a chance.

Do you agree with the article mate. I havent watched SA cricket for a long time, so curious to know your thoughts.

  • I never got why they didn't let AB open or bat 3rd ... We have Miller as the explosive batsment @ 6 ...
  • Agree on discipline - very frustrating and it showed against England, where we really should have won.
  • Never got why Wiese was playing - I think he's average (and that's being VERY VERY kind)
  • Don't think Steyn should have been selected - he needs to be protected and it was obvious he hadn't recovered fully over the summer.
Basically, we always find ways to fuck it up ... I guess 1-2 more chances for AB, Faf, Amla etc before the team moves over to QdK, Rababa, Rilee etc

Test cricket is dying.. 20 - 20 is the future, unless something happens to make Test Cricket more attractive to the players and the ground owners, I can see it dying off completely..

I can only imagine 20 20 cricket will expand, with a 2nd innings being added to the game...

So much more money to be made from 20 20 cricket.. why try to make money from a game over 5 days when you can have 2 to 4 games a day to make money from...

Cheers mate. SA were my second team in 1992 world cup. Always had a soft spot for them.

The famous dive, "Is it Superman? No it's Jonty Rhodes!" That world cup really got me into cricket ... I actually met Jonty a while back here - such a good oak.

That South African team was so fucking good - a young Hansie, Rhodes, & Hudson ... the veteran leadership of Kepler, Omar Henry and Peter Kirsten. The pace bowling of Donald, Fanie De Villiers & matthes. All round play from MacMillan and Richardson as the wk. Quality team .

If you lose test cricket 20/20 will follow sooner or later. What we desperately need is more equitable remuneration for test players and commitment for tests from the ICC. The long mooted test tournament would be a start. As far as the top players are concerned sure they are going to secure their future but the top players endure in history and measure their place in the game by their stats in the test game. No one is interested in their one day stats really.
So 1 pay test players properly ( except Aus, India and Eng where they are rewarded well ) The ICC had a surplus of $128mil us dollars for 2014/2015 alone !!!
2 Get some sort of test tournament going
3 Sort the 20/20 calender out, maybe shortening the time these tournaments take up
