Love the fella I really do, Legend.. I hate to say it, but I do not think he is a long term solution for us, his tactical misgivings in the modern game make him a liability in big games..

What exactly where the tactics for today? team selection was shocking for a game of this magnitude..

This game was made for a workhorses like KUYT & Bellamy, why did they start on the bench ?

Carroll on the wing, midfield over run, defence unable to cope with Tottenhams attacking play.

Skrtel at RB is shocking.. what happend to Flannagan? much better option if IMHO

Henderson anonymous for most of the game..

The Skrtel thing was a worry. A couple of good performances at right back doesn't mean he's a right back.

I'd have put Carra out there ahead of him I think.

Ah, this puts me in mind of my "Elephant" thread.........*sits back for the nonsense*

Under Kenny we've beat, the Mancs, City, Chelsea and the Gooners.

The lack of pace in that starting line was real concern..

Flannagan and Bellamy would of injected much needed pace with KUYT as the workhouse closing people down and getting in players faces.. we could not cope with the pace of Tottenham.

Kenny4PM is right ...

We have to hope this is a one off and the tactics chosen today won't be repeated again.

If it happens a few times, we have a serious problem ... If not, well - we'll be fine.

Pfft... if Flanno had played and been roasted by Bale, everyone and their dog would have been bleating on about what a mistake it was to play a kid against one of the best wingers in Britain. Besides, far more accomplished right backs than Martin Skrtel have been made to look stupid by Bale (here's looking at you Maicon).

I still would of played Flannagan with KUYT in front of him and one up top, more balance

Skrtel is an old fashioned style CB, now way is he ever a RB. Far too clumsy to play in that position.

Picking Henderson ahead of Kuyt not smart. He is not ready.

Carroll is a liability and should be nowhere near the first team on current form. Bellamy or Kuyt are better options.

Ah, the old blame Rick Parry type move!
Ha so true.

We could do with Ricky to have a go at on a day like today.

Lots of mistakes but he will certainly learn. I remember united getting creamed 4-1 by us, 3-1 by us and 5-0 by chelsea. This happens once in a blue moon. Letslearn and move on

Bad day at the office. We have played some good stuff under Kenny, but easy to forget on a day like this. Next game please, stat!!

Exactly. One admittedly dreadful game and all of a sudden the end of the world is at hand. FFS.

Not the end of the world, but it is very concerning.

And against the gooners we where lucky, Arsenal held there own till ping pong got sent off. We never looked like getting anything from the game til then.

Leaving skrtel on for so long on a yellow when he was getting raped time and again was fucking baffling.

We are in a much better position as a club than we have been for a long while, that is without doubt.

The concern is whether we are going to be a top side at any time in the near future. We should be - we do have enough players to suggest we can be - but nevertheless, right now, it isn't looking as promising as we'd hoped.

People saying he got it wrong - what exactly did he get wrong ?

What would you have done ?
i wouldn't have put downing on the right that he did get wrong, i'd have kuyt instead of henderson and waited too long for the subs.

Ross, you cannot have been happy with that formation. Where did Adam start? Was he on the left to begin with? Why didn't Dirk play to help out Skrtel against Bale? Why did Andy Carroll play as a winger for large portions of the game? Henderson is a passenger at times for us, he's afraid to try anything and is playing football by numbers.

While im having a go, why was Robinson on the bench and Flannagan wasn't? Enrique was ever present for Newcastle I think and we have no RB and Skrtel playing there yet brought a spare LB with us ????

Terrible day at the office. I don't think Kenny's formation, shape or tactics did us any favours but we should just move on.

Well why did we start with Downing on the right ? were we playing a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-3 , it was hard to tell .

They had the whole week off but didn't seem to have any plan at all to deal with bale . Now i don't rate him as much as some but with his pace he can cause havoc or stretch you all over the place . Did they really think skrtel could handle it ?

But i think the main concern was that when things started going wrong , well from the 1st minute really , nothing was done to address these properly .

And Carroll on the right wing ? fuck me .

I wasn't happy but you can only piss with the cock you've got.

We lost the game in the middle of the park and I'm not sure we really had other options there. Everything else to me seems incidental.
