Back to old faithful in midfield. Szobo and the way he leads our press is just too valuable to be moving around.
Helped by Villa passing around the back. But our next two opponents play the same way, so let’s keep if up.

If we are going through transition with our forwards, and a bit in defence too, we simply can’t afford to be fucking around with the midfield too.
Pay these three (with jones interchanging) for the majority and you can afford to rotate almost every other position around it.

Dropping Wirtz and Kerkez was a good decision.
What a surprise Salah has his best game of the season and was heavily involved when we didn’t have Wirtz and played last seasons team and formation.
Clean sheet.
Lots of chances.
Better side.
Lots of effort.
Some great patterns of play.
Sure more subs would have been ideal (Chiesa for Salah and Rio for Gakpo for the last 15) but I can understand why Slot didn’t want to change why we were winning. If he had and we somehow lost two late goals he’d have been slaughtered.
Now let’s see if we can lift again for Madrid.

Aside from their spell in the first half and a shorter one in the second, we were fairly comfortable and deserved our win. It's been a while since we've been able to walk away from a game feeling like that.
I think it's right to continue with Robertson at LB for now. I don't think the team really trust Kerkez at the moment and he's just causing chaos.
The midfield was more cohesive and involved. Villa trying to play through us helped in that regard but nevertheless, better. And good to have Gravy back.
Salah - cool finish and signs of improvement. Hopefully that continues.

100% this and I’m sure Wirtz will click at some point but there is no rush there. Take the pressure off the lad by easing him in. Same for Kerkez and Frimpong.
Ali back will be another big lift then.
City next weekend will be a big big test but let’s get Madrid a game first.
