Fenerbahce have put out a Tweet on Martin Skrtel.

Without a command of the Turkish language though it’s unclear as to whether it’s a done deal yet.

A quick Google translate says that “talks have begun” but why would you put out a message on that?

Rumored £5.5 million move

Basically, he's signing for Fener.

23 mill £ from Ibe, Canos and Skrtel is great business.

Good luck Martin. Been a great servant to the club

Good defender, who had many a good game and season for us. He was never great, and I don't for a second believe that what will play for us in the CB positions this year is any form of upgrade on him (that's another matter), but he served us well, loved the club, and I wish him well.

If only many of the players that remain at the club had a shred of his attitude and dedication; we'd be infinitely better off.

Why not?

Well Sakho certainly isn't.
It'd be hard to argue Lovren is any form of upgrade.
And what are you left with then? I've never seen Matip. Gomez has never played there.
Who else is there?

Well, Lovren is certainly an upgrade on Skrtel on current form, no? If you mean Skrtel of his best seasons, then we can have an argument.

I think Matip will prove to be our best CB, once he settles into the Premiership. In any case, I'm sure Lovren-Matip (with Karius in goal) will be a significant improvement on any of our CB partnerships during Rodgers' tenure.

yeah he does look a bit wider.
That shot was clearly taken with a Wide Angle lens (I'd say at the 24mm end of a 24-70) that distorts (widens), especially people and especially when taken close up (as in that shot).

He didn't exactly show any good attitude or dedication the last couple of seasons.

He never, ever, gave less than 100% on the pitch .. no matter how good or poor his performance ... and he never hid.

I have seen games when he clearly didn't give a shit. Bad concentration, bad tackles and so on. If you believe the reports from the reserve game he played when he got sent off last season he stank the place out with his piss poor attitude. He also had very difficult to accept that another player was our defensive leader. Instead he acted like he was that. He didn't step up when our real defensive leader ordered it. The result was that our offside trap didn't work as often as it should have.

Translation, "Skrtel called Klopp a cock, and he's an idiot for doing that, but because he did it, I'm going to rewrite the history books"

Skrtel always gave 100% and unlike some of the other players we have had he looked like he genuinely cared.
In the end its time for a change and this move suits both parties.

Hope he does well in Turkey.
