Our wee Flanno is out of contract at the end of the season and he's still not back yet...

Is this the end of him here or will he recover from this?

I don't really wanna lose our only other first-team scouser from the team

Unless he's never going to play football again, sign him up, I doubt he'll ask for much, and like you say, we need some Scouse in the team!

It's not really like the Kelly situation, it makes sense to give him a deal similar to what he's on.

And the general rule with knee surgery applies, it'll take another year after he recovers before he'll be at his best.

Sherman is Modo isn't he? Check out the stats, a member since Saturday with 7 posts.

-Two are about Coutinho.
-Two are digs at Lallana.
- One is a link to highlights of the game. (Thanks btw)

Classic Modo activity right there. This isn't me hounding a potential newbie because I am confident this is Modo again.

Just me on the not that bothered if he does go side of the fence then?

Largely agree, hes full of running but I dont think he has what it takes to be a top class full back. He would be a useful squad player to have but if his demands are over the top then I dont think he would really be missed

Harsh. He maybe performed better than some were expecting but that's because he was (and still is for that matter) pretty young. I don't recall anyone saying he was sh!te.

I'd defo keep him unless his demands are OTT (which would surprise me as I very much doubt he'd want to leave).

Flanagan was supposed to be back quite some time ago, and still nothing concrete on his progress. Very, very strange.

Jon Flanagan has provided a welcome injury boost to Liverpool after returning to full speed running at Melwood this week.
The popular young defender has missed the entire year due to a knee injury sustained in pre-season but on Monday reached a major milestone in his rehabilitation.
The 22-year-old has been building up strength in his knee by running in a harness, gradually increasing the weight he has been putting on the joint itself following surgery in September.

He is now running unsupported and will use the next couple of weeks to build up muscle strength before hopefully reappearing in some under-21 games.
As a local lad, Flanagan is a huge fan favourite and will be keen to force his way back into Brendan Rodgers’ plans with his contract running out this summer.
With Steven Gerrard leaving for LA Galaxy, many see the full back as a key part of keeping a ‘Scouse heartbeat’ within the ranks at Anfield.
Flanagan played 25 games last year and was virtually ever-present in the second half of the season as the Reds just missed out on the title. His good form saw him make his England debut and he was in the seven-man standby squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

Brendan Rodgers has since added Spanish full-backs Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo to the Liverpool squad but Flanagan said last month that he welcomed the fight for places.
“I want to keep developing as a footballer. That’s why not being available has been so frustrating. But competition for places doesn’t bother me. I’m always up for the fight,” he said.
“I’ve been out for what has felt like a really long time. It’s been very frustrating. That is one of the downsides of football that people don’t see. You’re out of routine because you are used to training and playing, being around the squad and having a laugh on a daily basis.”

Flanagan scored a memorable goal in Liverpool’s 5-0 rout of Spurs at White Hart Lane last season and he still appears to be a firm part of his manager’s plans with Brendan Rodgers recently speaking about welcoming him back “in the near future.”
He said: “It has been difficult for Jon, because he was brilliant for us last year. He was absolutely superb. It is just unfortunate he has picked up this injury.
“He has been out for a little while. But we’re hoping that in time, in the near future, he’s going to be back fit and playing because he’s a very important young player for us.”

Whats going on with McLaughlin, I thought Flanno was supposed to be keeping the right back slot warm until he came of age. Hes never made a first team appearance and hes now 20, I would have thought he would get a run out by now considering how shit hot everybody said he was. Any ideas as to why hes not been given a look in yet?

Injuries. Not major ones like Kelly's, but he seems to keep getting one here, another there. Went on loan to Barnsley last season, and I think played some games and probably got injured there too at some point. He really needs to have an injury-free run. The U21 calendar is also rubbish, unfortunately - I think he's played like 6 out of 10 games for the U21s so far.

I've learnt not to write Flanno off (like I learnt with Carra). A few years ago, I was convinced Robinson was the better prospect and look where he is....
