Thought I read it’s been 20 years since Bayern bought someone from them? Always seemed unlikely he would go there.

Bayern have been working on the deal as long as we have and we're so confident they felt some half-arsed presentation would be sufficient. Kai Havertz came before him. Until his move to Chelsea, he was considered as one of the best of his generation.
Havertz was considered an excellent player in Germany but not at the level of Wirtz.
