Last year Salah ran away with this but I feel this season we’ll see a much more evenly spread distribution.

7 games in this is how we are shaping up

Player G A G+A
Salah 3 3 6
Hugo 4 1 5
Gravy 2 2 4
Chiesa 1 2 3
Gakpo 1 2 3
Dom 1 1 2
Rio 1 0 1
VVD 1 0 1
Robbo 1 0 1
Isak 1 0 1
Macca 0 1 1
Endo 0 1 1
Jones 0 1 1
Frim 0 1 1

14 players in 7 games contributed to a goal.

6 have had multiple contributions.

Long live King Salah.

It would be great if it was more evenly distributed. If it was, it might help Salah not go missing in the games that really matter at the end of the season.

I think it's a lot better distributed than since Sadio was with us, and that's before you look at the contribution Isak will make, or, the unarguable, amazing impact Wirtz is bound to have....

13 games in this is how we are shaping up

Player G A G+A
Salah 4 3 7
Gakpo 3 4 7
Hugo 4 2 6
Chiesa 2 3 5

VVD 2 0 2
Robbo 1 1 2
Isak 1 1 2
Wirtz 0 2 2
Rio 1 0 1
Konate 1 0 1
Kerkez 1 0 1
Macca 0 1 1
Endo 0 1 1
Jones 0 1 1
Frim 0 1 1
Bradley 0 1 1

Up to 18 players in 13 games contributed to a goal.

For all the abuse he gets Salah still leading the way with Gakpo. Chiesa definitely deserves more minutes and great to see Wirtz join the party.

Salah back on top baby!

Salah miles from where he should be but regardless of that issue look at Gravy. That's what pushing forward more this season has done for his figures. Considering missed games etc. that is pretty impressive for a DM. He is the player, more than any other inc. Szobo, that pulls the team together and helps us keep the shape.

I am enjoying seeing Gravy attack more and he is good at it, but it does make us more vulnerable. He had one driving dribble last night to the edge of the penalty box and Villa had a 5 on 3 right down our throats.

Risk vs Reward

Not sure what I like best, but maybe less risk for a while would be good.

I don't think that is on Gravy - if he pushed forward then the other CM in our double pivot (Macca or Jones) HAS to cover that space - and not dive in or miss their tackle. And there should be a FB inverting with the CBs behind. It shouldn't be that easy to drive through midfield - and I have to say that Villa got lucky a couple of times when balls bounced off defenders and ended up behind our midfielders and gave them the break - it can happen to any team.

I've been saying the same recently. Our xG is consistently above that of the opposition but we convert less and our defensive xG better but we are conceding more. Very very frustrating. It's like there is always someone to fuck up the attack or have a brainfart in defence.

Gakpo top despite apparently being shite and Gomez off the mark!

Imagine what it would look like if we could finish all those big chances we’ve created!

These numbers only tell half a story for me. It would be interesting to know in how many games the G+A were for, and how many games the player didn’t register a G+A.

Gakpo’s numbers would be less impressive if he achieved those in, say, a third of matches, but then spent the other two third doing his cut-in, shoot and block routine. Basically being shite in more matches than he is good.

If he’s achieved those in, say, half of matches, then it’s 50% good and 50% shite, which could be a good trade-off.

Actually this past week demonstrates what I mean. Gakpo scores and assists against West Ham, but then is terrible against Sunderland and Leeds.

Maybe we should look to sign the #9 from last season who finished as the top scorer and had the 3rd best conversion rate in the league behind Wood & Strand Larsen? Imagine how much better off we'd lo.......oh wait.

& look who continues to top the chart at the club for most big chances missed....
