Great transfer sagas of our time

All of this will he/ won't he at the moment is nothing new and by and large in his two stints in the job, Kenny has stuck to our traditions of conducting transfer business on the quiet. A notable exception was the John Barnes transfer which dragged on for yonkers. Kenny wanted him but for what seemed like an eternity at the time, he held on for a call from Arsenal or Italy. That one really was a cliff-hanger. Anymore?

If Fiberglass goes to barca it'll be hard to top that...everyones known for years its gonna happen...its practically dragged out since he joined Arsenal!

A few that didn't happen but really went on for some time before they finally died. Lee Bowyer to us was rumoured for ages, he came for talks etc, got photographed, everyone had their say on how awful it was, or how he was a good player which is all that mattered and then eventually it fell apart.

The other was Gerrard to Chelsea. Didn't go away for a few years that one

Vieira to Real Madrid came about every single summer, but in the end he went to Juve. Vieira and Henry sagas were nearly more annoying than the Fabregas one!

Are we talking exciting sagas (Torres in 2007) or tortuous emmerdale farm sagas (Adam, Acua, Downing, Barry)

The latter.

Karl Poborsky to us. Ended up at United and we got Berger instead.

Seemed that we missed our man so used the following list of priorities to find a replacement:

Long Hair - Check
Will be ok if forced to play on the Wing - Check
Czech - Check

Worked out ok as Paddy Berger was great in the end.

Better than Poborsky, as it turned out - a rare example of us getting the drop on ManUre in the market.

A few more like that please, Kenny and FSG.

True, I was still pissed that United got our man and his lion mane.
