Well, no surprises, but the "impossible job" is looking like it may be - predictably - beyond Benitez, who thought he could follow possibly the best manager in the world, who had just bequeathed Inter yet another title, A European Cup and a domestic cup to complete an unmatchable treble.

And now a derby defeat and a withering response by the excitable Moratti, swiftly followed-up by a "vote of confidence".

So how long before Frank Rijkaard who similar gets the job and Benitez is back in the Premiership/ La Liga?

Rafa is gone by season's end ... All the players who performed for Mourinho are not doing the same for Rafa, bar maybe Eto'o.

The Serie A is still relatively weak - so he may be able to right the ship and challenge but I can't see it happening.

I just dont get it. Why on earth would Benitez jump at that job straight away. After putting in day out and day in for 6 seasons with us, having half a week vacation yearly, when he possibly were scouting players anyway, he should have granted himself at least half a season off to evaluate himself and have a well deserved rest. It was a stupid decision by the man, but he is quite stubborn so....

End of the season. I don't think he will win the league but I hope he does.

Milan added Zlatan, Robinho and KPB to their starting team. Juve seem to be flourishing under the guidance of Aqualani ( 😉). Roma went very close last year and will be up there come May. Have Inter added anyone of note? Coutinho (back from loan) has looked decent along with Bibianni (sp?) but with Milito injured and the improvement in other teams, Rafa faces up an uphill battle to retain the title. Only 6 points off the top though and I'm sure they will put a decent run of games together. Losing to Milan (via a pen) will have been tough to stomach for the fans/Moratti.

Rafa lives for football.

If he'd taken a break, he'd have gone bonkers.

Until moratti realises he fucked up signing that useless cunt, which by his comments after the milan match seem to show that he is doubting him

I wish we still had him as opposed to Hodgson.

Fact.
[/quote]

So does everyone, apart from the odd massive fucking zlatan.

I dont want Hodgson, and i dont want Rafa.. Both are not good enough for our club. Bielsa the chilean coach is who we should be after, he only knows attack which is what we need and want

Inter has won the Serie A for five consecutive years. They are bound to 'lose' sometimes.

You don't know anything about Liverpool. The club, the place, the fans, the players, the history.
NOT A THING.

So what you think "we need and want" is about as relevant as a pile of steaming tramp shit

I'm looking forward to the excuses himself and others will make for him.

So pretty much what i think "we need and want" is as relevant as you 😉

To be honest and fair to the man, i really didn't expect this so soon but did expect it!!
I've watched most of their games and i can see him gone by xmas, i've zero sympathy for him, he's just not good enough - he has made tactical decisions with Inter that broke me when he was in charge at Anfield and that'll ultimately be his downfall!! He is not a good manager, but would i take him over Hodgson - probably!!
I think he'll be back in Spain soon but with a lower tier side!!

Mmmm, i guess that was in response to what i said??
Fair play to you!

Yeah, I think its all gone wrong for Rafa in the last two seasons.

Last season was a disaster with Liverpool and he clearly couldn't get the support he needed from anywhere - players, board or even the fans. Then he went and followed one of the best managers in football to an absolutely no win situation; difficult to see him coming close to emulating last season for Inter so he's on a hiding to nothing. What's worse that "manager" has gone and taken Rafa's dream role at Real. Current signs are that he's going to bring them success as well. Add the fact that Rafa seems to genuinely dislike the "special one" and it's not been a good two years for him.

I think rafa should have taken some time out for himself before going back to management. going to inter after they had just won the treble, well, he was on a hiding to nothing.

This is zlatan18's kryptonite - he tends to disappear on arrival of the picture below.

true, true. the sobering thought is that we've got rid of a 50 year old class act who's had a tough couple of years but will almost certainly come again, in favour of a 63 year old fucking no-mark. is there an argument that managers are just as susceptible to difficult circumstances as players, and maybe clubs should be supportive of them as they are to out of form players?

you know what I think already. I think rafa is a top manager and the fact that he is struggling in italy doesn't change my view.

I think he WAS a top manager. Like Peter suggests (drawing comparison with player form), I think he's been woefully out of form on that front of late.

Some people think it's just a blip (form temporary and all that).

I don't. Like Ronaldinho, I just don't think he'll ever recapture former glories.

You cannot bench a manager, which is a bit of a problem.

Maybe the future of football is having a squad of managers who you rotate every few months depending on who's on form. Reserve Managers could be stood on the touchline, wearing high-vis bibs, practising their scowls, disapproving looks and their hand gestures.
