"I asked for a table and they brought me a lampshadeâ€...

Well we asked for a Premiership trophy Rafa and you have brought us very little hope that you are capable of delivering.

Currently we are seventh in the league, with no hope of winning it and we could be potentially ninth if Fulham and Birmingham win their games in hand. Now we have also been knocked out of the Champions League and the League Cup, so a disastrous start to the season. They are all FACTS! As you would say.

Today we fielded a midfield of Kuyt, Mascherano, Lucas and Dossena – it doesn’t look good on paper, it is even worse on the pitch. That is a midfield all of hard work and graft, with little quality in possession and craft, in my opinion.
Our side must be the worst in the league at defending set plays. The last two season’s we have been horrendous at nullifying this area. Attacking the set plays we aren’t much better, with very little threat in the box and Gerrard taking the corners when he is arguably our best player at attacking the ball in the air.

I’m sorry but a centre midfield of Lucas and Mascherano is not good enough for Liverpool FC if we want to win titles. Our side needs a player who can probe, play telling passes in this area and generally has more quality in possession. We have that player in Gerrard, (possibly Aquilani), but Rafa seems to stick to the more cautious and bland partnership.

Kuyt has not been playing well, however he is ‘undroppable’ under Benitez. Benitez has constantly chosen his graft over someone like Benayoun, who is the nearest we have to a match winner in the squad behind Torres and Gerrard – it is crazy.

His substitutions are not much better. Predictable on the hour, every hour – we’ll see Benitez make his change and it is usually a cautious one. One rook for another rook as Benitez looks to treat players as chess pieces, rather than footballers. Our side looks rigid, yet we should be fluid. Our defense should be solid, it is vulnerable. The wide players should be looking to beat the opposition fullbacks and roaming trying to create space and chances for others... rather than concentrating that they are in the right place defensively, so they don’t get a bollocking from Benitez the next day as they are affecting the pro zone stats.

Benitez has spent 220 million players (80 million net for the pedantics) and this is his sixth season at the club, yet we are still fielding a team including Insua, Lucas, Dossena and Kuyt... in what was a team very close to our first eleven. I’m sorry but it is not good enough, that’s without mentioning other squad players such as El Zhar, Degen, Babel, Ngog... which makes you have diarrhea coming out of my mouth, just thinking about it.

So other than making poor team selections, predictable subs, playing players out of position, only having two top match winners, being awful at defending set plays, non-threatening at attacking corners, a squad full of dross, not dropping players out of form, spending 220 million and having five plus years in the job... I’m sorry but it is not good enough and a change must be imminent.

I love Rafa, but I'm sorry we need a change.

I not sure that Rafa is a 6CM member, much less actually logged on at the moment so your message may not get through. In fairness, there're several existing threads that your post could've been added to instead of starting a new one.

I've never been on RAWK, are they the exact opposite from here?

Most of my exposure to Liverpool fans who attend games regularly is on here. So is it just the vast majority of SCMers that want Rafa gone or is that the general consensus?

Oh aye, cranksville. They close anything vaguely critical and just blame net spend.

Problem with that place is it's so big and reflects badly on the rest of us.

Hilarious that is. There's one lad who genuinely believes Lucas is more influential than Gerrard. Now Stevie is not at his best at the moment but still...

Soon Ryan will have to move to rawk to find any like minded people.

I accept what you say without question and won't bother going back to RAWK for another look.

SCM's is definitely the most critical LFC website i've been on (not that that is a bad thing in most cases).

I'd say that this site has a much higher % of posters who want Rafa out now, compared to most other LFC sites (inc Rawk).

Will be intrestin the next home game wonder if the dissent spreads to the stands, surely his postion will become untenable if we don't win.

A lot will blindly cling on to the belief that Rafa is a genius to the very end, when in fact he's just a struggling football manager and all common sense dictates that a change is needed. It was the same with Ged, and will be with the next guy and so on.

Stop the press, just had a skim of their Lucas thread, and on it he was compared by one poster to Michael Essien.

Physically similar (number of arms, legs, eyes)
Both not UK citizens
Both speak English as a second language
Both play in roughly the centre of the pitch
Both are unwelcome in anfield

So - Identical 🙂

Yes I have beeen very pro Rafa.

However I think he's now had enough time, money and support. We should be expecting better.

In six season's we've had one good title challenge and I'm sorry but it doesn't make up for the other five poor ones.

I wouldn't get rid of Benitez for anyone, I would however like to see us try and persuade Hiddink to come as he showed last season at Chelsea he can get the best out of players and that's what we need with our resources.

Re: "I asked for a table and they brought me a lampshade”...

It's a decent post; a lot of what you've said is correct and there is very little I disagree with. But last year was the first time I've ever thought we were within a chance of a league title and 2005 was simply amazing. Benitez was responsible for that.

He's a good man and a proven manager. Whatever happens, I sincerely hope he keeps the respect of Liverpool fans.
