Insurance premiums

Does anyone know if clubs buy insurance against their players? I mean if you're spending £20m on equipment you would get cover, so wouldn't that be the same with players.

The reason why I ask is either the payout is not no way near market value or the monthly payments are high. If we buy someone like VVD for the reported £50m, who has an injury record the premiums must be through the roof. I would hazard a guess it's in the millions

We insure some high net worth clients and a genuine add on insurance product is 'hole in one insurance'.

To cover the outlay on a round of drinks for everyone at the golf course in the event you get an ace.

I shit you not.

professional indemnity insurance isn't expensive
Footy players insurance is relatively expensive.

I've read before that went through this, the club pay for insurance against permanent injury, whereby the club get the players pre injury valuation paid out. Medical bills resulting from injury are included. It also includes X number of years salary compensation for the player. It doesn't necessarily equate to the number of years contracted, & the terms of this insurance policy are included in contract negotiations.

This has been popular for a long time. In fact, every Asian I've ever played golf with is covered this way.
