It's still early here in the states and I haven't had a chance read the papers

but is Rooney being crushed in the English media the way he should be for being absolutely abhorrent in his two games in Poland/Ukraine?

Granted you could tell he was very rusty from not playing for a while but he put himself in that position with his silly red card in the Serbia/Montenegro game.

Only thing worse than his play was his shit hair.

Over-rated, over-hyped, massive, massive helmet.
He was abysmal. but you'd never know it from the media here.

It's a disgrace, he barely even tried last night and nothing. The only fault I have with Roy this competition is that he didn't have the bollocks to put Rooney where he belonged, the bench.

Amazingly Johnson seems to be getting a lot of flak. In my eyes he's been one of the best players in the team.

Amazes me every time, they never watch the actual fucking game just follow the Johnson must be shite defending old bollox

Roy would have got a lot of respect if he had kept Rooney on the bench as impact player, unfortunately he assumed he would be great after a rest.

Surely the trainers tested Rooney and could tell he was slow and over weight, it was obvious

Roy bottled it when Rooney returned. He should have stuck with Carroll and Welbeck who played well together. Too many average players and underperformers in the England squad.

In fairness, Ashley Young was the worst player on the pitch, compounded by the fact that he missed a pen. Surely he deserves the most shit

The thing is that he doesn't play for Liverpool so thats hardly gonna happen. FACT

Picking Rooney for the final group game was forgivable, but leaving him in for the Italy game was not. I know he scored against Ukraine, but it was a tap-in and it was plain for all to see that he wasn't up to a full game. He should have been used as an impact sub against the Eyeties, if at all.

Me too, the number of saving tackles he has made in all games has been massive, I thought he was good defensively and good getting forward. I thought all the back four did well.
The point is all the LFC players did well and all the United players were shite, everyone could see it , so the press have to start trying to pick holes were there weren't any.

regards

I seen some were giving Carroll stick because he didnt step up to take a penalty!!

I said this to my mates last night, half joking. I knew some twats would come up with this. Was it Redknapp tearing into our forwards for not taking a pen at some point this season?

Yeah, I think his reading of the game has been superb - he's seen the runner, used his pace and put in a fantastic saving tackle on several occasions. Had it been EBJT it would have been 'heroic defending'

Cos Rooney's massively popular worldwide & the fa trade off his name & image.

There was an interview on radio 5 with three Japanese fans wearing England fans going to the stadium to watch the quarter final & when asked why they supported England they all cited rooney as the reason.

rooneys a great player, its easy to say he shouldnt have played in hindsight, you could have said the same about stevie if we had any other decent midfielders
