Not normally a man who doesn't support one of our players, even when they are shit, but I'm willing to make an exception with this guy.
Always hated the prick. At West Ham, at Chelsea and here.I forgot he existed when he was at Lille, then up he pops again.
Utterly pointless.
I hope last night was the final time we ever have to endure him in a red shirt.

I always liked him and thought he had the potential to be brilliant. He's been shit for about half a decade now though, so..

I have fonder memories of Oyvind Leonhardsen and he was only on 8k a week

How much he cost or what wages he's on shouldn't be a concern for the present manager outside of the transfer window. He either needs to pick him and work with him or tell him he's not in his plans and freeze him out. Playing him and then telling the press about his 'astronomical' cost is just small time cynical nonsense.

I have to say that, as a supporter of Rodgers, this disappointed me.

I like a lot of what Rodgers is doing, but the handling of Carroll, Downing and now Cole is something he needs to learn from. Like the "3 players who will let us down" envelope - doesn't do us any good and makes him look small-time.

I'm not defending the guy but it can't be easy playing once in a blue moon.

He was average at Chelsea for an age, God knows why we bought him!

Well " we " didn't, he was a Christian Purslow signing ffs, Rafa didn't want him. We should sue the fucker ( Purslow that is ) for this, what a mess. Actually I think Joe is a nice guy but hasn't had a decent season for 5 or 6 years, would Chelsea have let him see out his contract if he was any good?

Joe Cole's not the problem. His best days are behind him. He's surplus to requirements and should be moved on as soon as possible.

I would say BR thought he could make a difference in our first team after working with him in his Chelsea days.

Why else didn't he try to shift a bit part player who earns over £100K a week.

I'm sure he did try to shift him, or at least was told the club was going to try to shift him.

I bet he tried. Didn't we get an offer from some russian club? I bet he wasn't going anywhere, or wanted his wages topped up to his 100k if he did go anywhere.

the last time I was as disappointed with a player was Kewell. Although Kewell promised more, both have failed to deliver BIG TIME. what's even more is the cole was given his 'preferred role' in the middle, behind the striker and was completely anonymous.

I think some of this is a touch unfair.

This was his first start for us since god-knows when, he’s just off the back of (another I know) injury, he was playing in a largely unchanged and shite team, was upfront alongside an 18 year old who let’s face it – is fucking years away from this level, and we as a team were playing shite.

He was bad, of that there’s no doubt – but a little bit of perspective is required too.

You could also apply a bit of perspective to the fact that practically every single game he's played for us, he's been fucking awful. I'm not judging him based on last night's game (I didn't even see it). I'm judging him based on his entire time spent at Liverpool.

How long does he have left on his contract?

Its probably unrealistic to expect that he'll walk away from 100k a week to go to West Ham for 25k. I remember people calling Diao a cunt because he wouldn't walk away from mega bucks just so we'd have more of a transfer budget. As if.
We'll just have to keep putting Cole out on loan and pay most of his wages, until the contract expires. And then fucking learn from the experience.

I hated him at Chelsea but he always spoke highly of us. He's a decent guy and I thought he'd be very good for us. I don't even know where he should play for us. He prob wants a central role but Shelvey and Gerrard and clearly better. He isn't really cut out for the wing to give Suarez decent support so he is surplus to requirements. Not sure if we can shift him on those wages and since we're out of the tin pot cup he won't get many minutes. In summary, we're stuck with him.
