@LFCTS: Guardian: Dalglish returns to the club as nonexecutive director on the board in a move that will see him contributing to strategic issues

@LFCTS: JWH: "We are delighted Kenny has accepted our offer to join Liverpool as a non-executive board director."

@LFCTS: BR: "When I discussed this appointment, I was struck by the passion & drive Kenny still has in wanting to see LFC return to where it should"

@LFCTS: BR: "We are all together in that goal - owners and supporters, players and management and also icons such as Kenny Dalglish."

@LFCTS: Kenny: "I am looking forward to working with the board of directors and contributing to the strategic issues that affect Liverpool FC."

@LFCTS: Kenny: "It is an honour and privilege to be asked to return to, my priority is & will always be to have the club's best interests at heart."

Just say it's good news. No one else would be "struck" by that. Anyway, it's really good news.

Well Rodger's obviously thinks he's da man now after being top of the league for a couple of weeks. Before that there was no way he would have felt he had the necessary cajones and authority to surround himself by these Icons, Gods and Kings.

I think Brendan was discussing it months ago. Should have been life president, if you're going to give someone a pointless title, but he's back where he belongs.

Ace. Like the grassroots approach Rodgers is taking here, turning to former players.

Brilliant news. Loving this move by the owners and chuffed to fuck for the King.

Well at least it means (hopefully) he'll be in all the meetings amongst the board of directors, and the 'Kenny smile' will be one of the first things a new signing sees.
If Kenny saw it as 'pointless', I've a feeling he'd have rejected it, seeing as it's the same people that gave him the sack only 2 years ago that offered this new role.

good to see

shows how confident BR is in his position by having such a legend around but not feeling threatened or undermined,

The King is dead, long live the King!

Fantastic news indeed. Palace, look out!!

Positive move to bring Kenny on board and benefit from his experience and inspiration.

I'd like to think they might also consider John Barnes for a role at the club in due course.

They already use Digger in an ambassadorial role - that's the reason why he's often interviewed these days wearing LFC training kit - but I believe talks have been going on for a while for him to be closely involved with the academy.

Remember meeting him as a drunk teenager. Really really nice guy (was very very patient with a star struck drunk LFC supporter!), and I'd imagine he'd be a great guy to have around even if it's just for the occasional training sessions for the youngsters.

The lizards have made a good call, and I think it suggests that BR is confident in his place and feels part of the fabric of the club to bring him back. Whatever, it's brilliant news. Kenny is part of our club's soul.

Hold on a sec... Non-executive Directors don't have any say in transfer purchases do they?

- now Free
Non-executive directors (in business) have a say in pretty much anything. If anything they also make sure the executive directors are doing their jobs properly.
