I know this is jarg. But i learned something yesterday. After picking up a bass when i was abaaaa 15 i started to pick up the basics pretty quickly then hit a big levelling out period of abaa 10 years and when i tried learning a few new techniques i just went "ooooh fuck off!" cos it was solid. But of late i've started going "eyar, slap bass is jarg but like it's boss really but it's still jarg but it's boss" ya get me? So i started messing about and worked out how to slap and pop. But i was limited to like abaa one note each and i sounded shit, i just couldn't work it out in me head and make me hands do what i wanted them to do. The timing and the placement and shit like that. It just badly pissed me off so i jibbed it an carried on as norm. But. Last night. I slapped the shit out me bass. An i can like actually do it. Proper. An i'm cheddered. Like it all just fit into place. An so i attempted the hardest thing i know of and the bestest thing i know. The Awakening by The Reddings. I'm at abaa 60% complete. 2 days ago i couldn't even play a jarg rick james bass line. Now am like les claypool in a beasty lacoste trackie. I'd like to hear your victories. An i dont mean boring unimportant shite like degrees. I mean important stuff like slap bass and fighting.
I'll leave this here as a soundtrack to victory.
