I expect them winning the European Cup and UEFA cup more recently than we have, playing in the CL 8 times in the last 10 seasons and winning the title 4 times in the same period probably carried some more weight. Or is it purely on the last season?

Equally, we would probably be ahead of United if the rankings were only for the last three years.
