I suppose, to be fair, we've very rarely played well in the first few matches, even when we ended up winning the title, but we managed to grind out results. That's what we need now - several ugly wins in a row.

I believe we will yes.

If I had to put my house on a decision one way or the other i would put it on us. But I would hate myself

I do mostly. The last couple of years ive been morbidly negative. This year I am at least open to the fact we 'could' win.

Yep, the season we finished second we were leaking goals all over the place for the first few months, but we came from behind in alot of games to grind out wins when we hadn't really performed that well defensively.

Man, what a shit way to begin the Rodgers regime.

15/08/2010 Arsenal Home D 1-1 Ngog (46)

This was the game where Reina spilled the ball through his hands in the 90th minute and gifted the Arse a draw. Also forgot about Joe Cole's blindingly stupid red card.

BTW how depressing was this starting line-up?

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger; Mascherano, Gerrard; Kuyt, Cole, Jovanovic; Ngog.

Can you believe we went into the season reliant on Jovanovic and Ngog to score goals.

16/08/2009 Tottenham Hotspur Away L 1-2 Gerrard (pen 55)

This game pissed me off so much. Especially Beniot Assou-Ekotto's wonder goal. Literally the goal of his career, the only goal he scored that whole season and one of only five in his career for Tottenham. Still makes me mad thinking about it.

We've got to be confident about beating a Mark Hughes Stoke side at Anfield. We need to continue where we left off last season; battering sides without Luis Suarez.

Many of our players have said the intensity of pre-season was extremely high so we'll be ready for them and they'll be no excuses if we fail to collect three points.

I think we'l beat Stoke. Particularly now Pulis has gone. Previously we've struggled with their thuggery, but it seems that Mark Hughes wants to try and get them playing football, and I think it'll be their undoing. I think Modo might be right on this one. In fact, I think if we score early then we could run away with it.

Generally we do well against Mark Hughes teams. So a 1-0 win is acceptable.

We also need to show a nasty streak and compete against the physical sides. We have been a bit of a soft touch for thre last few seasons. We must give as much as we get and show some bottle.

I don't care how we do it but we NEED to win this one, need the confidence going in to the season, I think it'll be scrappy but we can do it.
