Richards has never done himself any favours. He used to get into all kinds of trouble in Manchester clubs. Was drunk for training a few times. Joked on TV he'd come back from vacation with 'alcohol poisoning', etc etc. He's not very bright and still amazingly immature. But what potential he's got. It's just high time he grew up.

As for Richards:

Richards - shortlisted for City's Player of the Year award by fans - was left out of Hodgson's squad favour of Liverpool's Glen Johnson and Manchester United's Phil Jones.

It is understood Richards then asked not to be put on standby because while Hodgson called other stars to tell them they were not in his 23-man party, he did not call the Richards himself.
