Liverpool youngster Krisztián Németh has joined Greek club AEK Athens on a year-long loan deal.
AEK Athens chairman Nikos Thanopoulos was in Liverpool today and met Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
Greek international Sotirios Kyrgiakos made the move to Anfield from AEK yesterday and Nemeth will join the Greek side as a part of an agreement.
Thanopoulos wanted to sign Reds winger Nabil El Zhar however, Benitez wasn’t keen on letting go of the Moroccan after insisting he was part of his plans this season.

Nemeth is in search of first-team football, something which Benitez isn’t ready to offer yet, and decided a move to AEK was ideal for him.
The loan deal will see the Hungarian at AEK for a year with an option to extend the loan deal for another 6 months.

Glad he's gonna play some competative football this year at least

He clearly needed a loan move this summer so it's good to see he's secured a relatively decent one.

From what I've seen of him I don't think he's good enough for the first team but by all reports he's too good for the reserves.

Good luck to him

For fuck's sake. History suggests that his chances of making it at Liverpool have just taken a significant knock.

Championship would've been better admittedly

I think the club lets our youngsters down with finding them decent loan moves.

Yup, but hopefully he has a very strong (& healthy) year ... If he can get 10-20 league goals and be a constant starter, he'll hopefully do enough to be our #3 or #4 striker next year.

I doubt he would have gone had we not been so cash-strapped. Maybe it was the only way to pay even less than AEK wanted for Kyrgiakos. (Cue 'Nemeth's relationship with Rafa broke down irretrievably when he was touted around Europe...')

I'm disappointed because I think he's a much cooler finisher than N'gog (who I rate much more than some here), and is more creative around the box than El Zhar. I think he could have been an option for us this season.

Are AEK in the UEFA Cup this year?

Not a bad team in their own league, are they? Shame though because the league is rubbish.

Athens, Olympiakos, Panathanaekos ? Not too shaby. He can join Cisse and Leto in an old boys gettogether 🙂

I can't understand this.

I'd rather have cancelled Voronin's contract and chucked both Pacheco and Nemeth in as back-up strikers.

I think they're in the qualifying stages of whatever it's now called. Europa?

Ah. Well, let's hope they get through - more chance of him getting games. I just looked at their squad on Wikipedia and they seem to have quite a few strikers.

Was Nemeth another one in that handful of youngsters/reserves that you claimed would break into the side at some stage of this year? Hammill didn't last long after that declaration.

Bit of a kiss of death that one.

You're acting like a bit of a tosser today, Ryan lad. Although perhaps I shouldn't single out just today.

That's another one of the kids that hasn't come good then.

Lets hope this new Barca youth development fella can take all this business with the kids off Rafa's hands and sort it out for him.

Decent move for the lad - if he gets games. It's a lot closer to home for him too so he shouldn't feel too bad about the move. Fact is our reserves don't play half the games they need to, so this is the right thing to do if he is going to break through anywhere. If he scores more than a handful it'll be very good for his confdence too.

Some people just want to play it safe and never back a youngster or underdog to come good. So then can they look back and point the finger at people that do, thus trying to make them selves out to know everything about football.

He'll bang shed loads of goals in for a team that'll finish in the top 4 and hopefully get a bit of European action... Good luck to him and he'll come back stronger next year.

It's a shame he couldn't get a gig in a decent league,though.

Suggests he's crap.

I'm sure i'm not the first one to point out..here goes. You are horribly obnoxious, and you are not even remotely funny. If there was an ignore poster option in this forum, i would choose to ignore yours for sure. Did some one tell you that you know everything about football? Good for you really.....

I shall keep to my word and ignore your posts hence forth... don't bother replying.

His agent says a deal is NOT in place yet, but it could happen. Other clubs want him on loan aswell.

I tend to agree Doc. I would have thought it entirely possible Nemeth might have shown more than N'gog has so far

Offal has confirmed he's gone to AEK. Meanwhile, Simon has gone to some random Spanish club... in the second division I presume.
