We’ve had 24 hours to simmer down.

Huge game to silence the doubters. Who knows what slot will do but let’s assume Hugo & Ali are out. Although if it was cramp for Ekitike he’ll be on the bench.

He’s what i want. I know it won’t happen. 44w diamond.

Not fussed what formation. We’re getting battered. So, I’m gonna go for a nice long walk with some tunes on my ears and stay zen instead of watching.

In fact, I think I’ll keep walking until Xmas. We should have ironed out our wrinkles by then and hopefully will be playing great footy again.
 
Given the fixtures Liverpool has been doing great. More than great, actually. And Slot might prove out to be a monumental sort of a manager/figure at Liverpool. He's not afraid of adjusting and readjusting. And there's always great logic with what he says. He is a source of great info about what goes on at LFC, and what the ongoing thinking is. For better or for worse. But he's been left with very poor full back choices and options. With Frimpong he is ALREADY VERY HEAVILY DISPLEASED. One would hope that he is MORE DISPLEASED WITH KERKEZ but chooses not to let it show. These full back options weren't to his liking. And very, very visibly so. He made the point of it during a press conference which he never really does. Slot says and acts ABSENT CONSEQUENCES when it comes to certain things. Even early on and as things develop. That is GREAT TO SEE. FANTASTIC EVEN. Has been benching Gakpo already too. Should/must do such things more. It will be a trial for him this season. Klopp has left all sorts of things in place that he may have not fully understood. Probably regrets letting/allowing Diaz to go just like that.
 
Vs Gala : Gakpo came off early, Bradley came on late, Salah didn't start, Wirtz came off early, Isak played 90 mins vs CP and 30+ vs Gala, Kerkez has now played 2 x 90 mins in a few days. I have to think some of those subs were made with Chelsea in mind. Konate needs dropping.

Macca, Isak, Kerkez and Rio will get minutes. That's a strong bench.

The defence looks dodgy. I have to think we'll get back to scoring goals. Mo.will finally score again and Wirtz get his first in the PL. Ekitike will have a point to prove. 2-3.
 
We need to stop this Szoboszlai in defence crap and play a right back for a full game. I’d drop Konate for being a useless spaz. Robbo to come back in. Mac isn’t fit and I don’t rate Jones.

Szob and Grav have been really good so far, we need them in the middle. Agreed.

I’d almost be tempted to have Gomez at RB to give more defensive solidity
 
To be fair, Szobo hasn't only been our best righht back, he has looked better at RB than in his usual position too. I'd actually keep him there but unfortunately we need him in midfield because Macca looks fucked and Jones hasn't stepped up

Konate deffo needs dropping though, he's been like Lovren at his worst lately

This game has a late Rio winner written all over it btw
 
I was going to start a thread on Macca, but there's enough negativity. Tf is going on with him? Can barely play 45 minutes and when he does he's been careless and muck.

He was always able to control things when the side wasn't playing so great, and at least we would keep the ball for longer periods and had some increased bite in the middle. We're crying out for him to get back to his form of last year.

It was similar last season wasn’t it? Second half of the season he was our best player.

Could argue over the full backs, I think it's much of muchness with pros and cons, but I think I like the idea of going with less new players in the team. After that, the only choice is really if we want Macca to start or not and I think we need to persist with Wirtz.
 
Agree. Whatever view (if any) folks may have formed about him already, he's here now and has to get games under his belt to settle in. All the newbies do, and there was always going to be a price to pay for that.
 
No slow starts, no sloppy passes please. Intensity and concentration throughout - play like the feckin' champions you are. Make changes if and when players get tired as God knows we have plenty of options.
 
I think wirtz has to start. Hes the perfect player for caicedo to continually foul, and wirtz goes down easy. He also needs to be continually under the spotlight until he gets his shit sorted. This ain't no also-ran bundesliga team. We're fucking Liverpool, and he needs to get on with it.

Gomez and chiesa need to come in. Gakpo just looks dumb, and Konate looks dumber.

Isak should start, purely for tactical reasons. Ekitike coming on later against tired legs could be very good for us. Isak needs minutes and he needs to put a shift in

I do wonder how much Slot has the balls to drop a player. It's one thing rotating someone and telling them it's for their own good, it's another battling with player power. It will be interesting to see if he has the courage to drop Konate, in light of his poor form and despite him flirting with Madrid. I suspect if we had bought Guehi then we would have already been thinking about getting shut of/losing Konate.

Oh there’s zero doubt in my mind that Guehi would have been establishing himself as Virg’s partner right now…and we’d be a lot better for it.
 
I'm still dubious about starting Isak. I see many of you have him in there as a starter whereas I've got Ekitike.

Isak played 84 mins vs palace and then another 38 mins (inc. time added on) vs Gala, in the space of 3 days. Yes there are 3.5 days to the Chelsea game but I would be very leery giving an unfit player too much game time in such a short space of time.

Ekitike is fit and must be raring to go after coming off after 68 mins vs Gala and missing the CP match. Much better to start him when Chelsea's defenders will be fresh, and give Isak the last 30 mins when they start to tire. I also think that may have been in Slot's mind too since he only left 2 forwards on the pitch vs Gala (Mo. and Isak).
 
Is Ekitike fit? That's the only reason he's not in my lineup, I assumed he was injured. If he's fit I'd play him Salah and Isak.
