Remaining matches (prior to this weekend).

It's now:

United 56
Liverpool 51
Chelsea 50 (game in hand)
Spurs 49
Arsenal 45

Liverpool have only two games against the Top 6 teams to go, that could be crucial when others have 3 or 4 and of course someone must lose points in them. Liverpool will also likely play the least amount of games which again could be vital given we also have the smallest squad in terms of 1st team quality players.

Arsenal really need to beat Spurs to stay in it. Otherwise the Europa League is probably their better hope for a CL place.

It's too close to call between the current top 5. A potential decider against Chelsea is not something to look forward to.
 
Chelsea are on the verge of imploding with Conte fighting with his own board.
 
So far the table says we have the second best attack in the league and we're the second hardest to beat too.

If we hadn't sold Coutinho, we would be confident of qualifying for the CL, but we did...

I think Spurs will get confidence from today's game and go on a possible winning run. For Chelsea - it's a motivation thing - if they are motivated then they will finish 3rd for sure. With us - it's a mental thing and a fitness thing - if we give it 100% for the rest of the games there is a chance we can beat all the teams except maybe United, and Chelsea away. Maybe it's a good thing we did not win today - because it means the players will be more focussed for the next game regardless as it becomes crucial to stay in the top 4.
 
We are closing the gap as we are ahead of spurs now in the league compared to last season.

Sadly, when you sell one of your best players and dont replace him it will be a struggle for top 4.
 
A few months ago I said we wouldn't get top 4. Ironically, it was after the reverse fixture against Spurs in November. We went on an amazing unbeaten run, although a run that contained too many draws.

Had we won yesterday I would've been a lot more confident, however we're still in a good spot. But, you can never say for certain with this team. We could just as easily go unbeaten for the rest of the season as we could go without a win in the next four or five. Cliché, but one game at a time. Draw last night wasn't a bad result, especially given our second half performance - though it was a kick in the balls how it happened. Got to beat Southampton now.

They'll lose to Arsenal next weekend.
 
I get the cl and monetary value of finishing in the top four but i dont really care.

Winning the Champions League is literally the only thing left worth caring about this season.

I agree with the sentiment - trophies, finals, winning stuff - but I do still care about finishing Top 4 as opposed to, say, not finishing Top 4.
 
It also makes a difference in terms of keeping players if we finish in the top four. Or more specifically reduces the number of clubs the better players would leave us for.
 
I'm really going to root for Arsenal against Spurs next weekend and maybe for the remainder of the season – don't think they will catch us, but would love for them to make top 4 at the expense of Spurs or Chelsea. Plus they are going to play lovely football with the unshackled Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang.
