Ireland actually have a shot at getting back into a major championship.

After we dropped down into the 3rd teir of teams in qualifying group stages for WC and EC's I thought we wouldn't be back at either for a very long time.

So to be one tie away against a very beatable team I have to say I'm really excited.

Maybe its down to LFC being rubbish this season but I can't wait for this tie.

Come on Irleland!

I'd say anxious more than excited to be honest.

We're really not very good, I don't enjoy watching us play, our midfield is largely fucking rubbish, we stand about 4 yards in front of Shay Given for the entire 90 minutes, we are usually fucking shite when it comes to playoffs, I know nothing about Estonia either, and lets face it - even if we do qualify, we'll get fucking humped by any good side we come up against.

C'mon Ireland!

Unbeaten in 9 , only conceded 1 goal in those games . Helenio Herrera would have a tear in his eye if still alive .

Anyone who has been following European football real closely for the last couple of years would have noticed the Estonian ascent from obscurity to now being able to matching it with the big boys.

It will be an interesting game. I think Tarmo's work with the national team is starting to finally bare some fruit, that win against Serbia was special - to put 3 past one of the best defences in world football is something to sit up and notice. The home game against Italy, Estonia deserved at least a draw if not victory. Tarmo has had several years now but as usual, good coaching is not rewarded in one or two years, it needs time.

What I find interesting in Estonian football of late is the great disparity in the players clubs, before it was mostly Levadia and Flora, now very few players originate from these clubs and Estonian players are playing all over the world. We cannot forget Trans and TVMK. What makes Estonian football interesting (well to someone like myself anyway) is the great equality in the league, although apart from these four teams, there is a big gap between the rest.

A team to take seriously not only in the Euro 2012 qualifiers but in future competitions. Estonian football is finally finding it's deserved place in the global scale of things.

That's took the wind right out of Dreamy's sails.

Lol ... I honestly can't pick a winner in this one ...

Just wanted to point out the progress being made by Estonia - their progression to this stage is no one time thing.

Great to see sides like Estonia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Swiss and Belgium developing nicely.

Ha I wouldn't care if it meant we had 7 months to look forward to us actually being at a championships.

Great insight here Roopy, I knew they had beaten NI to get this far but knew little else.

We should still beat them and despite our apparent lack of talent we have done very well all but a few games in the Italian's tenure.

Belgium should be putting together a decent side now. They must have faced a tough group as they have some decent players coming through. Lakuka, Screech, Vermaelen, Hazard, Defour, Kompany, Van Buyton are making up the core of the team.

I'm back baby!!!

...and to think the Irish took heat for posting in an England thread before. 😉

To be fair Ross was clearly on the wind up that time.

I bet you're touching the screen now aren't you?

I hope everyone is having a go.

I've been expecting you.

On a serious note, I should. Gonna be wrecked in the morning. Had a two hour game of indoor 'soccer' tonight. Three Irish, a Canadian and a Turk on my team.

I think we all know if we don't get through only one person can be blamed.

Come on Ross, you give us to many choices
