...Just thinking, is this the first transfer window in a long time where we've not had to endure months of heartache over whether a player will leave?

It was good to hear Gerrard talking positively about next season and about Henderson. A few years back had we spent a wedge on an unknown like this it would have begged questions of our more ambitious squad members.

Seems we now have a committed, close-knit bunch.

Good post Mark. I made a similar comment in a player thread regardingth
fact that a year ago we nearly went bust. Now we can buy British top talent for 16 mill without thinking who of our stars that will get sold. I also think its important to realize that we're building a squad that can compete for an entire season.

Well said Mark.

Under FSG we've seen Carroll, Suarez and Henderson come in in a short period of time, with more to come by the looks of it. Certainly beats watching which of our betters players will be sold off next.

This is true, but on the other hand are there many players we have now who we really would be shitting ourselves about possibly leaving?

Reina is the obvious one but besides him I can't think of many.

Gerrard and Carra are both over 30 now, as is Kuyt. Suarez hasn't been here 5 minutes really.

In other years there were more stand-out players we could stress over.

Whether this means we now see the overall squad as stronger, we trust the management to replace anyone should they leave or we actually do need to replace a lot of our players I don't know.

Its cos apart from Reina all our saleable assets have left Mark.... lol....

The point still stands, it's nice that no one is moaning about leaving.

It's like we've been operating for the last few years with all our best players feeling a pull away from us for whatever reason, but it feels much different now like we're the ones sucking in the talent instead of losing it. I know a lot of it's about money but we're definately on the rise and I'm really looking forward to it - especially this time next season when we're back in the champions league and looking like a proper team again.

Moaning used to get these cunts attention from the fans and an improved contract. At least now all it will get is a simple handshake, thank you very much and goodbye
