Liverpool defender Chris Mavinga is off to Rennes as the French club appear to have beaten Genk and Villarreal to his signature.
Mavinga is wanted by the trio after being told his future lies away from Anfield and Rennes, Villarreal and Genk were all ready to make official bids for him.
Genk thought they were favourites to land the 20-year-old following his successful loan spell there last season in which he helped the Belgian club win the league.
But now Rennes have secured a deal for the left-back and hope to announce the signing next week.
