I was just watching Mane's first 50 goals, after watching a Salah goal compilation, and was thinking how much I fucking love Bobby.

Many of us have mentioned it ... but when was the last time we had a team where we loved so many of the players ... I guess the team that got Macheda'ed ?

Difference between popular (mo and bobby are) and appreciated (mo and bobby are, but underappreciated)

I'm not sure what constitutes underappreciated in your book.

But the fans love him, football hipsters think he's great, and pundits constantly sing his praises. Gary Neville seems to think he's the best striker in the league. I think John Barnes said he was our most important player, or something to that effect.

I think some people just need to believe he's underrated because it adds a gloss of bravery and insight to their actually rather conventional view that a striker's contribution is more than just goals.

Fans love him ... but think we could, and should, replace him with a #9 that can score 20+ goals.
I'll be right there with ya when we manage to find a no 9 that can do what Firmino does.
In basketball terms he's our Magic Johnson.

The only player who would be able to replace him imo, is a 24 year old Luis Suarez. The most complete LFC striker I've ever seen.

I think he's more like our Luka Doncic.

He's about as appreciated as a striker who scored 9 League goals should be.

In a front three thats the sum of its parts rather than measured on whether they each score 50 goals a season in cloud fucking cookoo land.

He could score more, be he's crucial and a top player regardless, he makes us tick.

Thats what we need to look at supplementing and thinking about moving forward, someone who will step into his shoes.

Yep, agree with that. He's our most creative and technically skilled player. But fucking hell the lad needs to find the net more. He must have one of the worst goal to shot ratios.

I dont buy the idea that hes under rated, he seems to have an army of admirers both inside and outside our fanbase. His link play is other worldly at times, he has a sixth sense for spatial awareness and timing of a pass. Hes also one of the most unselfish players you will ever see and he must be a dream to play with. On the flip side his finishing is mediocre at best and hes a yard short of the sort of pace that troubles defenders.

If we were being ruthless we would probably have to say hes peaked and now would be an ideal time to move him on, next summer at the latest.

None of his qualities diminish with age so why would we move him on? I think he will be the last of the three to go .

I think he’s the first to go. He’s never been lightening quick and will only get slower. I’ve felt it would be him, then Salah and finally Mané.

It's a scary thought, in 2-3 years time half the team might be gone. I doubt that Klopp will leave us with an ageing team in 2024.
So enjoy the moment, I guess.

No, Salah will be the first to leave, I think. Bobby will be here for a long time.

I dont get the diminishing pace point about Bobby, he never had it in the first place and doesn't need it, he's just got a great footballing brain. Its no different really to someone like Sheringham playing as long as he did.
