Lets hear them.

Are they going to invest their own money in the club, or look to take as much out as possible?
Are they going to turn us into a selling club?

All conspiracy theories are welcome

Hahaha now you are pandering to one of young Andrews hysterical outbursts Ross, you know he only does that to stir things up 😉

Why would anyone buy any business that they weren't already emotionally invested in?

Profit.

So why do so many people think FSG are going to plough money into club for transfers?

Because they seem content spending 50M+ on Carroll and Henderson?

i think it looks like they'll be investing money in the short term but that we'll swiftly be returned to self-sufficiency. my theory as to whay they'd be willing to inject transfer funds is along the lines of:

1. regain CL revenues as quickly as possible. if £50m invested now gets us back in there next season then a huge portion will be repaid very quickly. god knows how much longer it'd take with no cash injection.

2. raise the profile and on-field performance, and therefore help off-field revenues, with an eye on FFP.

3. ultimately, they got a great but rather down at heel club for £300m. it seems logical to me that it's better to have a really competitive, thrving club for £350-400m investment, than a struggling and hamstrung one for £300m.

in short, we're in apparent need of investment, and doing nothing could be seen as a false economy.

They buzz off winning shit an they're minted. Spend money to make money. But every club can be a selling club if the money is right. They showed they're willing to spend already in jan an pretty much quelled any fears I had that it was another gang of massive cunts in charge. Imagine if 50 got offered when pricks an gilletit where about an cunt was pushing. That money would have well gone on cheeseburgers an racks of ribs. The southern blerts.

Perhaps, and this is just a wild theory, but perhaps Kenny and Comolli have something to do with our transfer policy. I could way off though

By the way, we havnt stated any intent in the transfer market.
We have sold Torres + Babel for 56m
and signed Suarez and Carroll for 55m
They havnt stated anything yet except they will sell and look to recruit better value alternatives.

lol

I think their plan is;

1. to buy young/relatively young english talent at a premium.

2. reduce wages by pairing down the squad so it is only filled with players that contribute, with depth being provided by the reserves.

3. increase the amount brought in by sponsership.

I don't think we will see them spending too much of their own money.

i think £55m on carroll and henderson is some evidence of intent, personally, but i take your point. i'd be pretty surprised if we don't spend £50m net this summer, though - more fool me?

They're here to make profit but I think they know full well they need to invest and also get better value for money to achieve that. Better value for money is certainly something everyone wants. I refuse to be too cynical at this point in time though as I don't see anything to feel that way.

Agreed, and I also think the comments about FSG intentions regarding a possible sale of Ming is way over the top. What can we expect, a 4 mill profit? Is that really were they will be looking to earn money? I can see it if we'd earn 20 mill on him...

I think I'll judge them when we see the results next season.

Its never ideal when it looks like we might be losing good players but if we start winning trophies again then those deals suddenly don't look so bad do they?

If the owners sell an entire team that has won nothing for years, replaces it with a team that wins loads and in doing so makes a huge profit for themselves without even touching a penny of their own cash then good luck to them, they deserve it!

And again.

Name an owner that ultimately profited by investing, their own money in the club to be used for transfers?

I'm not sure there are any. And thats why I dont see it happening. As the old saying goes to make a small fortune in football you need to start with a big one.
