Interesting to draw comparisons on where teams are in comparison with this time last season.

Interesting that other than Utd who are 15 points down on this stage last season all the top teams are doing better. Spurs, for all their supposed travails have the same points tally with a game in hand from last season. City are doing only marginally better in terms of points (+2) but loads better in terms of goal difference (+36 v +22). Our goals scored v this time last season also looks pretty healthy.

How do you post tables and make the columns evenly spaced? Is there an easy way to edit a post like Doc's and make it right?

Yeah. I reckon you can fiddle about in word or excel, save as html, and paste that. But would be good to know if there is a less fiddly way.

interesting way to see the table, thought id post it here

The easy conclusion to take from that table is that we're winning more of the games we usually draw. Arguably there's more to it than that though as I believe our fixtures have been harder this year than last.

The fact that United are the equivalent of five wins further back than this time last year is quite mad.

Really? Surely if we have title aspirations a draw would be the best result. I guess chelsea win would boost the top 4 chances but I want the big one!

Looking at that last graphic you'd have to say the top 9 is done. Hard to see anyone from the bottom 11 forcing their way into the top 9 given the points separation.

You could also probably say that the top 7 is set as well though the barcodes might go on another barmy win streak.

We have the chance to make a difference in that we play the top 3 at Anfield in the run home but, from a neutral perspective, you'd think we're fighting for 4th with Spurs and the Bitters. Maybe when the CL starts again it will even the playing field a little so we're not without hope. I'd take 4th right now, though, if it were offered.

@iseered

There is ! Post it as a jpg. Upload into Tiny or something like that and use the URL they give you for forums. Takes a minute longer but hey it's now perfect.

I think it's also worth looking at the corresponding fixtures from last year. Just done a quick look and (depending on what you do for promoted/relegated teams) we're about 8 points better off than last season. While that shows improvement, it doesn't really take into account the trends of the league, and just because we've seen improvement doesn't guarantee we'll finish 4th this season. It's so tight this year.

Of our remaining games, the corresponding fixtures from last year yielded:

Everton (H) 1 point
WBA (A) 0 points
Arsenal (H) 0 points
Fulham (A) 3 points
Swansea (H) 3 points
Southampton (A) 0 points
Sunderland (H) 3 points
Man Utd (A) 0 points
Cardiff (A) -
Spurs (H) 3 points
West Ham (A) 3 points
Man City (H) 1 point
Norwich (A) 3 points
Chelsea (H) 1 point
Crystal Palace (A) -
Newcastle (H) 1 point

That's 22 points from 14 games (I've taken out the games against the promoted/relegated teams) last year. With Rodgers talking about 2 points a game, would 28 from those 14 - or 32 if you extend it to 16 games - be enough? How many should we realistically expect?

If we are going ot win the league Chelsea beating a shit side at home won't change that.

That's exactly what we need to happen - Chelsea loosing to shit teams at home! Ah well its happened now, I guess it is always nice to see Man Utd getting thrashed!

Have you thought that through? Losing to crap teams is how we lose the title every year. In fact, it's the only way to lose the title.

That result is exactly why we don't win titles.

Yes but even though Utd are rubbish this season the fact they are champions means Chelsea were never ever going to give them a sniff.

Chelsea are more likely to struggle against a mid table side or lower than they are against UTD.

That was always a nailed on win so I want a big defeat to bury Utd's confidence.

It's amazing that no matter how terrible Utd's season has been going, they are still only 5 points below us.

I feel like we have had quite a good season so far, and that Utd's season is decimating into a farcical joke, that we can all laugh at.

Yet there they are. Only 2 wins separate them and ourselves.

Charmed life.

Don't mean to be picky but its 6 points and our goal difference will be worth a point over them come the end of the season.

Its mad to think if they had won at Anfield this season we would of been level on points with them.

Do people still think we can win the title?

Can you even see city losing 3 games let alone us winning EVERY SINGLE GAME?

Fuck me.
