Finally the new season hoves into view offering ample opportunites to profit from the bookies (or other punters if you bet with Betfair).

In previous seasons I started a 3% per day challenge, the theory being if you can make 3% profit every day you can turn £100 into £350,000+ over the period of a season.

The problem is that this is totally unrealistic as there are not enough "certainties" to bet on and sooner or later you fall behind target. The challenge always fails because you are forced into taking on bets you otherwise wouldn't in order to try and keep on course.

Last season I got as far as turning my original £100 into £1,600 (I think that was my highest level) before falling back to £1,000. At that stage I was a long way behind the target and decided to keep the £900 profit and end the challenge.

This season I am setting a far more realistic target.............If you win 1% per day you can turn £100 into £2,500 in one season. It's obviously not going to be easy but I am quietly confident.

If anyone wants to join me I suggest you open a Betfair account as the prices are significantly better and obviously if you're not a big gamble you can start with £10. Or, if you don't fancy my selections post your own.

I'll start this on Saturday.

Great stuff, I knew I could rely on the pair of you 🙂

On this challenge, unlike my normal betting pattern, I'm not adverse to betting on short priced favourites - nothing ridiculous like 1.03 shots but I'll probably go as low as 1.20 at some stage and I'd imagine my average price would be about 1.66 (i.e. 4/6).

Sound.

I won't be doing any heavy betting til i get moneys in sept but i can put £20 into this.

I'll be surprised if i last a week before i have to refill again.
I've got faith in ye B4.

I should have started this challenge yesterday...........I went out for the evening so didn't have much time to check team news from last nights games but did notice there was a lot of attacking intent on show in the Derby v Scunthorpe line-ups. I did a smallish bet £50 (to win £45) on over 2.5 goals. Got home to find out the game finished 5-5 after 90 minutes! A rather convincing start to my season 🙂

Right, I suppose as a supposed betting industry expert, I would be a hypocrite if I didn't have a bash at it. Here have my £100!

First bet, £7 on Arsenal/Sunderland over 1.5 goals at 1.28 on Betfair.

£50 on Bournemouth to beat Pompey.
Mmmm, I've got a big bet AGAINST Bournemouth winning! I layed them during the week at 1.88 because I suspected they'd be allowed (by the league)bring in some temporary loan players until they sort out their administration issue and I was right....they've signed 12 players on short term loans.

Some of the players they've signed are very good e.g Izale McLeod, Brian Howard,Luke Rodgers, Mike Williamson, Jon Harley etc but whether they will gel immediately or not is the difficult question.

Bournemouth have to be favourites but IMO the correct price for Bournemouth should be about 2.50.

I might sell some of the liability in the bet beforekick off but I'll wait to see the confirmed teams.

Rangers 0-1 East Sterling after 3 minutes.............£10 Rangers to come back and win towin £1.50

Bank @ £101.50 (Target for next saturday is £107)

£12 over 1.5 goals Man City v Southampton to win £2

Bank @ £103.50. A bit of an overly cautious start but I'm marginally ahead of schedule.

Target for week 1 (i.e next Saturday = £107)

To start with this challenge might seem quite laborious and it takes upto week 10 for the bank to double to £200 BUT after that the increase is quite noticeable e.g the target for week 20 is £402, week 30 is £807 and week 40 is £1620.

£8 lay of AFC Wimbledon winning at Burton to win £4
£20 over 1.5 goals Bournemouth v MK Dons to win £7.40

Well done Pesam.

Followed you in on the lay of Bury but also laid Celtic after 8 mins which I feel a bit sore about.
I felt that Helsingborg deserved at least a draw from the game.

I was very tempted to lay Celtic too Leo, glad I dodged that bullet.

Bank @ £122 which is a 22% increase in the first 3 days of the season. I want to get a fair distance ahead of the target to allow for some losing bets and some blank weekends when there's no decent football to bet on. If anyone else is interested here's the weekly targets...........

Week 1 = £107
2 = 115
3 = 123
4 = 132
5 = 142
6 = 152
7 = 163
8 = 174
9 = 187
10 = 200
11 = 215
12 = 230
13 = 247
14 = 265
15 = 284
16 = 304
17 = 326
18 = 350
19 = 375
20 = 402

I'll type up weeks 21+ if any of us are still going at that stage.

£7 to win £2 Chelsea to beat Reading
15 minutes gone Morton 0-0 Aberdeen, £2 Morton to win....wins £10

Backed Stuttgart earlier

Have gone for +2.5 goals in the Chelsea game (hoping to lay this if there is an early goal) rubbish odds

Ha. Didn't check the score as I was busy with my youngest. Nice.

Come on Reading (debates backing Chelsea....)

£2 Hearts to beat LFC to win £14.40

Hearts are rubbish BUT there's an outside chance they could take the lead, in which case I'll then bet against them winning at a decent price.
