Murray beaten in straight sets. Oh well.

Scotland's Andy Murray lost ;D

I love Slams.

Simply because each time leading up to a Slam, you can almost bet your house that Andy Murray will never win one. Ever.

Most over-rated player I've ever seen.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Your a funny one!

Murray is actually a top player. Potentially a future grand slam winner. But right now, he's far too defensive in his play to win one. His whole game is about making the opposition beat themselves. He doesn't go out and win games himself. Until this mentality changes, and he becomes more offensive in his shots, controlling rallies, he'll always come up short in a grand slam as there are bound to be 'form players' that he'll meet in the semis/quarters that won't be missing shots or beating themselves.

What a lovely woman Serena William is.

"I'll kill you" is what she said to a line judge on match point. She got docked the point and lost the semi. The crowd turned on her too.

Ha. Great stuff.

I was up late playing Facebook Farm Town with my American lady friends, so I heard the incident live on radio.

LOL @ Serena Williams! She went totally berserk when she was called for a foot fault which gave Klujsters match point! She yelled at the linesperson and waved her racket at her. Then she went over to the umpire to complain, and then went back and threatened the linesperson for a second time.

The outcome was that the umpire awarded a penalty point against Serena which gave Kluysters the match!

Twenty minutes later, Serena turned up for the post-match press conference and talked as though she was completely innocent and butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.

I think the Williams Sisters are far too full of themselves, and I hate the way they cherry pick the grand slam tournaments they are going to deign to play in. It's just arrogant. Well done Kim!

;D

It wasnt a foot fault and the line judge was out of her depth and serenas anger was therefore understandable.
A great match ended on a ridiculus note.

Understandable... Ok.... Can she not challenge it??
If she did indeed say "I'll kill you" she deserves to be docked ALL of her ranking points and start again.

Rusedski has been on Sky saying that its an unwritten rule that "top players" don't get called for foot faults in the closing stages of a match.

Whether it was a foot fault or not, her reaction was abominable. She threatened and harangued an official because the call went against her. Then her behaviour in the post match interview was equally wrong as she did everything to make herself sound like the victim.

No doubt some idiots will come out with some conspiracy theory in the next few days about how its a plot to stop the Williams sisters winning majors. Conveniently forgetting that Clijsters was playing brilliantly and was a set up and had already beaten the elder Williams.

How do you know it wasn't foot fault? None of the tv coverage has any footage of the actual serve to prove or disprove it was.

Have you seen a clip that shows it wasn't? If so where from, because Sky have none at all.

If they do then they are idiots... The Williams' are American... it's the least likely major that'd happen in.

I find both the sky pundits cringeworthy... Rusedski and that Woman... I forget her name as she only reached like 100 in the world.

I'm happy for Clijsters - a very nice lady - but disappointed for Serena. I don't understand the dislike of her - she's a very ebullient and vivacious woman. So what if she saves her best for the Grand Slams - I thought the best players do that.

Fully agree. Some people just can't handle it when someone shows a bit of "character".

Similar reasons why people really dislike(d) Thierry Henry and to some extent Jose Mourinho.. due to the passion they showed within the playing arena (often classifying them as arrogant). Personally, I like having 'characters' and players showing 'passion' within sport. Even if it does sometimes boil over.

Threatening to kill an official or shove your racket down their throat is showing character alright. Bad fucking character. I'm struggling to understand why people are defending her actions. They were reprehensible.

You actually heard her say that exactly? Or are you just speculating from reports?

Anyhow, if she did say something 'reprehensible' I COULD understand, as it's said in a heat of the moment situation. She's in a grand slam semi-final, on the verge of going out, it's a big point/call, with all the tensions and pressures, it's probably very easy to lose yourself in such a situation after what you perceive to be a bad call. Correctly, she was punished on the court and i'm sure she'll learn from it and keep her composure better in the future. But I remember it was only a few years ago that she lost a game to Capriati at the US Open (before Hawkeye came in) whereby she lost some huge points after very suspect calls going against her (when i say 'very suspect' i mean wrong calls that went very long that even Stevie Wonder could see it). I'm sure that played a part in much of her frustrations yesterday, thinking that she was being screwed in the US open (again).

In the heat of the moment, at the level she's at, with all the pressures and tensions.. I think it's very plausible that you can lose your composure and say things that you don't mean or remember (or at least remember it all). It's plausible. Is it true? I don't know. Probably not. But i'll give her the benefit of the doubt given the situation.

From her press conference afterwards though, she made clear one thing.. that she didn't say she would kill the official. From what I gathered, she said that she thought she heard the lineswoman tell the umpire that she'd kill her, but Serena herself had misheard, and that the lineswoman told the umpire that she said something else. What? Well, she didn't say.

I'm still hurting.

I backed Del Potro. Nadal is out of form.

Fed will win now.

I think she may be a bit embarrassed about what she said and is using the Arsene Wenger technique to avoid facing it. In this incident she was clearly in the wrong, but its not like its her usual behaviour and there is a lot of anti-Serena sentiment regardless of this.

another easy win for Federer in the final ... The more he wins, the more you realize how there's only one player who consistently beat him - and when he's injured or off form, it's an upset if he doesn't win ...

Fucking hell.

It's not a difficult shot to get back over the net with, but to play a passing shot from there is pretty incredible.
