I'll be switching it on in a few minutes whilst my missus goes to lose brain cells watching twit & twat presenting 'I'm z-list celebrity whorebag get me 5 minutes of fame'

I went Oldham Tranmere on Saturday. It had quite a bit going for it.

Oldham's stadium is awful. One of the stands has been knocked down and they've made a TV gantry that looks like a slightly less safe than average tree house. The directors box looks like a caravan balancing on a mantlepiece. There was a busload of Birkenheaders on a stag do dressed as mexican bandits. One of them puked on a stewards shoes outside the ground and there was a bit of a calculation going on as to whether not letting them in would get the stewards killed or not. The bar in the main stand served proper booze on draft for three quid a pint. You could see the electric cables all sticking out and stuff, nice touch. We sat with some oldham players in wooden seats that were designed for midgets. Tranmere won one nil in a fairly scrappy game and went five points clear at the top. Pies were of a good standard for Premier League but would expect better for a lower league club in the North West.

Recommended afternoon out. Good fun.

By the way, the home game on Friday night against MK Dons is 5 quid in.

I'm going the Premier Club for the Liverpool game the day after at 150 quid a go and I reckon I know where I'll have the better laugh.

I've been banging on about this for years, I go to lots of lower league games (and Droylsden) and the craic is superb. I don't miss being ripped off at PL grounds.

On top of that is the fact that the average wage in the 2nd division is about £40,000 a YEAR and, at a guess, £75,000 in the 1st division, you don't get the prima-donna nonsence by the likes of Balotelli, Adebayor, Tevez etc who play when they feel like it because football owes them a living.

I have weaned myself off the Premier League (still love LFC) but I'm addicted to lower league football.

Braintree is just down the road from me and they're only in the conference so I was routing for them, shame they lost!

I go to see my old town club Leamington Brakes (Evostik Southern) when I'm visiting up there. Great fun, cheap, one little row of standing terrace behind the goal and they have their own beer on tap (Brakes Fluid, a nice drop) The players come into the bar with their families after the game for a laugh, chat, bit of pool or darts.
The games are usually pretty good fun and there's always a few hardy away fans to have a bit of banter with.
All for 9 quid.
