I thought about re-hashing the old thread but because it descended into a bit of a bitch-fest, I decided to be brave and start my first thread.

Almost exactly a year ago I said:

I was happy with the signing of Lallana, I even thought the fee was fair enough, considering the English Added Tax. In his final season at Southampton he looked ace and there was high optimism that he would kick on with better players around him. I've been massively disappointed by him though and would expect any team with aspirations to replace him asap.

He's now one of my favourite players. It's like he's always had it in him, but all of a sudden the lad's found some "purpose" and everything he does I believe he is done with an outcome in sight. He's found the end product. Klopp bigged him up a few months back and since then, the lad has not only made himself indispensable to us, he's elevated his status in world football.

Nice post - Yep Lallana is now a proper pivotal player. He's got mad skills and now goals. Seems absurd that just 12-18months ago he was a bench type player. I think you have to give credit to Klopp for some of that. The lad is flourishing and I'm a massive fan. He's ace.

I always loved watching him, his control and flair was there to see but he would always keep hold of the ball too long and obviously didn't weigh in with enough goals.

He's rectified both those issues and for me has been our player of the season so far.

He'd likely still To be floundering as a slightly above average journeyman without Klopp's guidance to take the step up adding Now he's arguably the best English player in the league (for once, Carragher's hyperbole seems justified) with goals and genuine purpose to his trickery and ball skills.

He is playing in a system that suits his game, he isn't playing too far forward and the release of not 'having' to score goals means he is now scoring goals and assisting.

Since his move into a midfield 3 he has come on loads. Prior to his positional move he was shite and he was quite rightly getting stick, I personally wanted him gone or from the bench. Now though, fuck - he is playing like he belongs, Klopp has made him believe in himself. Long may it continue.

Here are the roles for the 3-3:

Coutinho - the Magician
Firminio - the Trickster
Mane - the Speedster
Gini - the Orchestrator
Lallana - the Drifter
Henderson - the Quaterback
