Just a thought… If Mo is gone in January, as seems likely, and Harvey comes back to Liverpool from Villa, as seems inevitable, is there a universe where Harvey has a realistic chance to make the RW spot his own?
The argument in favour is that Harvey is the one player in this team who is perfectly suited to unlocking Isak with his key passes and through balls - Wirtz is a different type of playmaker, more flicks and dribbles than killer passes and no one else in this team bar Macca is even capable of playing a killer through ball. So we can potentially gain a new attacking dimension without spending a dime - surely that’s worth a try!
Of course a key prerequisite to all this would be having a manager who believed in Elliott and understood how to use him…

Harvey isn't anywhere near tactically disciplined enough, but more than anything he's too slow, too small, too weak.
We need a skillful, fast baller, an actual winger. We do not need to replace Salah.
It does make some sense, but we don't need someone to feed him throughballs because there's no space for that (and we already have Wirtz). We need pace to go beyond the last defender and put it across for Isak/Ekitike to run onto, a la Bradders last night, or Gakpo v Sunderland.
Harvey would still be a welcome addition mind, so long as we've got a new manger, orherwise he'll just be Chiesas best friend on the bench...
I think more than anything we need to bring back creativity and combination play - we have almost forgot how to attack as a team in the last few months. Individually, Isak, Ekitike, Gakpo and Chiesa are all fast - but they don’t know how to play with each other and run into each other’s spaces. This is where the loss of Trent really hurts us - we now have plenty of players who can get on the end of a pass and finish, but don’t have someone who can find them with a killer ball. And before you say Wirtz, I think he has it in his locker to some extent, but this is not his main strength - he is more Bernardo Silva than De Bruyne.
I agree that Harvey is a bit slow and small, but he is still an improvement on late-stage Salah in terms of defensive contribution and like I said, he could potentially unlock Isak, which would be absolutely vital for us. I think it’s worth a try.

Do you really think we will buy a new CB, a DM AND a world-class winger in January, after all we spent in the summer? I think other positions are a bigger priority, so “Harvey vs Semenyo” is probably not the question Hughes will be preoccupied with in January.
Don’t forget that we already have a lightning-fast RW in Frimpong too, if he can get fit. We need to use the players we own better before we buy.
If we sell Salah it does free up a bit of cash...

You said "is there a chance Harvey can make the RW his own" ? And the answer to THAT question is a resounding 'never'.
And we are not buying a DM in January. However if we get Saudi cash for Mo then yes, Guehi and Semanyo is a real possibility. We had the cash for Guehi during the last transfer window and hopefully Salah cash pays for Semanyo.
Don’t forget the money it takes to pay off Slot’s contract and hire another manager.
Despite all the gnashing of teeth and wailing on here, unless we are in free-fall (and looking like we'll miss out on Top 4/5) then Slot will stay until the season's end. And we're not there yet.

Whilst he's the favourite his odds are still 6/4 to 5/4. Not odds on. A couple of wins and back into the Top 4/5 and those odds will lengthen.
Brighton (H), Spurs, Wolves, Leeds and Fulham takes us to 4th Jan. Arsenal on the 9th Jan. a key match.
He's reputed to still have strong support from those in power.

Maybe it already has - which is why he's still here. What you mean is you hope he's sacked - that's something entirely different. I would not be against that (hello Emery)! However I strongly doubt it is happening unless we are in serious danger of not making Top 4.
I mean, I don’t even remember hearing any (no doubt, dreaded) vote of confidence for Slot from the board or management — despite the worst run in 71 years. They’re just letting Slot fend for himself and take the bullets. Every time a negative result comes our way, there will be voices.
I’d imagine any incoming player would want to know who they’ll be playing under in the long term. Picture “backing the manager” in the transfer market, only for him to be sacked weeks later. And we definitely don’t need more situations like Chiesa’s.

Which is why I just "hope a permanent decision on the manager’s position is made before any signings are completed" - they can remain silent, but hopefully they have a plan in mind rather than simply adopting a wait-and-see approach.
We've player 15 games out of 38. Are 3 points off 3rd (with Top 5 making the CL). We are most certainly not in serious danger - yet. Chelsea aside there aren't even any, what I would consider, top sides around us and none of those sides that are are in any way consistent, all capable of beating, or losing to, the others.
I'm not in the slightest worried about Top 5. I do want to see a consistent pattern and high level of play from us though and believe it'll come eventually (esp. if we get Guehi and Semanyo in January for example) because of the quality of players we've got.
Sorry mate but that makes no sense to me. If they keep faith with the manager they'll keep silent but then they'll still buy in January if the possibility exists.
How has Samanyo done since the opening fixtures? I don’t watch much Bournemouth but he’s been tragic for my fantasy team. Another inconsistent player who’s had periods out injured?
This is going to give us a shake up, but depending on what happens next, im very concerned about top 5.
Scenario 1.
Slot leaves Salah stays. We'll improve but Can is kicked down the road. Salah can never be dropped again, and we're waiting for our next meltdown. Top 4 attainable but could go either way.
Scenario 2
Slot stays, Salah leaves.
This gets rid of one problem, but not the other major one of Slot being shit. Not being able to coach a defense, find a system to utilise Isak or Wirtz, have players incomprehensibly consigned to the bench, whilst others play utter shite and drag us down. Imprint some noticable, functioning system.
Top 4 very, very unlikely.
Scenario 3
Both leave.
We should be fine for top 4 providing our opposition continue to be inconsistent.
