Been Recommended by Fifa Task Force to be played in November /December

World Cup Final December 22nd..

Going to well fuck up everyone's season.. With players risking burnout towards the end of the season.

Right mess..

Have they said whether it would run like the African Cup of Nations i.e. club competitions remain playing whilst the comp is on in the background or will league games stop to accomodate?

There would be an incredible amount of disruption to not only the League but both cup competitions and all European tournaments.. They should almost cancel the Euro tournaments to free up time. Mental.

I'm in favour. All that disruption might result in us sneaking in and winning the league. I have nothing to base that on, but hey, nothing else seems to be working.

I wouldn't mind if Qatar was a footy mad country and actually deserved to host, it's sickening that it's all because of money.

Football has lost whatever little bit of soul it had left.

The league that will be affected the most will be the English Leagues.. As we have the most players that are likely to be called up by their prospective nations..

Spain and Germany have winter breaks, so although this will cause disruption for them they have that to work around..

World Cup Finals will also be 4 days shorter than normal too..

Still its going to be nightmare.. Lower league clubs are complaining if they are to continue playing whilst the worldcup is still on they risk gates being affected..

The whole thing is a shambles. Will be interesting to see how the hell they try to schedule it all.

I really hope someone stands up to these cunts.

Can't the clubs make some kind of coordinated response?

Can't help wondering if some big club somewhere (and/or national FA possibly) will try to sue FIFA over this if it does end up being implemented.

1) Having the tournament there is a revolting, money-grabbing exercise.
2) They are worried about players and fans safety in the heat but don't give a fuck about the itinerant workers dying daily building their bloated corporate stadiums.
3) FIFA and the world cup can fuck off. Can't stand it.

Be funny if this kind of reaction becomes widespread and results in a massive loss of interest in, hence also income from, the whole thing.

This is very far away, who knows how much the game might change by then.

Gerrard could be managing England. India could be the World Cup dark horse behind the creative play of Yan Dhanda.

*shrug*

The PL will introduce a winter break before 2022, and I guess they'll start the league earlier since there's no summer tournament

It's all pretty corrupt, and as Silver Sean has said, the amount of mistreated workers used to build this sham is horrible

This is my huge concern.. yet it still is allowed to go on..

Sickening..

Absolutely pathetic from FIFA, the world cup is a summer tournament, if the country can't host it in summer, then that's that. Makes me so angry how blatantly obviously corrupt FIFA and this whole escapade is, yet there is nothing that can be done about it.

Theres fuck all point bellyaching about it.

I was fucked off a few years ago when it was offered to Qatar but their noses are so far into the trough they cant even hear the average fan.

Like I said at the time the FA should pull England out of the tournament in protest of the process. But they wont. So fuck it.

If we were clever enough about it we could really turn that to our advantage in the long term. Appoint the right manager, revamp the whole structure of the game in this country, bring the youngsters through (do a Germany in other words) and rejoin the competition raring to go for the 2022/3 season.

It's a farce. Although it's never really acknowledged, even a normal World Cup takes club football about a year from which to recover, because the top players return shattered, some carrying niggling injuries, and (as some have acknowledged) feel jaded for most of the subsequent season. Holding an event in the middle of a season will cause ripples like throwing a boulder in a pond. I suspect the second half of that season will be strikingly flat, players won't get a proper rest in the summer, maybe the lucrative pre-season tours will have to be either scrapped or downgraded because of the absence of any stars, and the fatigue and ennui will drag on into the following year. Then on top of that the next wave of European Championship fixtures will also be even more unwelcome than usual. So it's not just a month of inconvenience, it's full of unintended consequences. The level of stupidity and incompetence at FIFA keeps rising like an explosion at a Pillsbury Dough factory.

Yes, and on top of that there's still not the slightest attempt to explain how that profoundly homophobic culture and society will be transformed, even short term, into one that meets the moral and legal expectations of most of the participating countries.

Yep, I pointed out last season that if we kept hold of suarez I thought we'd stroll the league cos it's always very poor the season after the world cup.

Holding it mid season will turn the second half of the season into a joke.

Blatter is a cunt, just trying to wriggle out of the shite he personally has dropped on the football world. How on earth people think he is the right one to lead world football is absolutely mental.

A pathetic, corrupt, sham.

Don't disagree, but given that the 2018 WC is in Russia it would need to be addressed a lot sooner!

"in protest"

Not turning up as opposed to going home after a week isn't a protest.

They should win the fucker and then decline it

Or get a big team to boycott, like Germany, Brazil, or Austria

I suppose ultimately this is what happens when you get a really entrenched monopoly like FIFA has. Consumers are screwed.

TV being the other one of the two evils, it would be intriguing if it took on FIFA one day over things like this. I'm even slightly surprised Murdoch hasn't yet been tempted to ape his Aussie predecessor Kerry Packer and just set up his own tournament when and where it suits TV.
