Borini's thinking?

May get no playing time whatever. Will be paid half of what he could have been? Why didn't he move? Does he think he can succeed at Liverpool and believes he should work for the chance? Or did he just not fancy living in Sunderland or London?

He's mental. Obviously doesn't rate playing football. I believe both Sunderland and QPR were offering him a payrise on what he earns here.
He's 4th choice and will be lucky to get a game in the league cup.

He isn't thinking, that's his problem.
We could do with extra striking options, but he's fourth choice so will play sod all. Could have played regularly and got paid plenty. Weird.
Maybe he'll do a Terry and wait for us to win the champs league so he can get in the photos in his kit without playing.

When you're injured as often as he is, maybe you lose all sense of the mid to long term. Maybe you just end up stuck in the neither here nor there.

I posed this on another thread, he is on 45K/week here, according to one website. QPR were offering 58K, I'm sure he could have struck a deal at 60. So he turned down a 33.3% increase increase in salary.

He turned down a 30-50% pay rise to go start somewhere, and instead decided to stay and be our 3rd/4th choice striking option.

I can live with that. There will be times where we need more of a Borini to influence a match than a Lambert.

And I'm sure one of QPR and Sunderland will be in the relegation zone come January. If the opportunities aren't there for him in the first half, I'm sure both of those clubs will be happy to pay more than the quoted figures to get him in, after all they never did spend the money they offered us on anybody else.

If we were to really look at Borini's mindset on this matter he maybe thinking - fuck that - I was told I would get a chance at this big club having done fairly well at Roma, and now they want to flog me off to some shit club in the PL who may end up getting relegated or what.

He came from a big club in Italy - who I understand are in the CL this year. Maybe he will come good for us - we have really different strikers now to chose from.

isn't he with some local model bird now ? i always had a feeling that it might influence his choices now so thought he might have fancied the QPR / London move . But hey he joined us from Roma where he got games , maybe he feels he should be and can play at a club like that rather than lower level prem league teams .
Anyway he'll be off in January .

There will be opportunities for him to get onto the bench as long as Rodgers sticks to playing two forwards most of the time, and doesn't use Sterling as a stand-in. An injury to Sturridge and/or Balotelli quickly bumps him into the matchday squad in that case. Whether he'll get to play then depends on events on that day.

If we'd brought in a 4th striker or had a U21 striker ready to be promoted (doesn't look like we have), then maybe that'd have killed off any remaining optimism Borini had.

Maybe there's a role for him... in the League Cup. 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 games in that competition for Sunderland, scoring and assisting against the likes of Chelsea and both Manchester clubs. Perhaps he's got that bit of Kuyt cup scoring specialization in him, albeit on a different stage. :D

I recall a similar reaction (maybe not quite as widespread) when Henderson declined a move to Fulham (?), now look at him

Maybe in 2 years time we will all be delighted that Borini decided to stay & fight for his place

It seems as if he never wanted to move to QPR / Sunderland on a permanent deal anyway and so just sent his agent along, with ludicrous salary demands, to placate LFC. I guess I can't blame him for not wanting to go to those clubs after Roma & Liverpool, having had a successful loan season and still being only 24 yrs old.

He may feel, after proving himself at Sunderland, that he can push himself up the pecking order here and has a kindred spirit in Mario, a fellow Italian, to learn from. Probably feels he can give it until January, at least, when maybe his options could be better.

it's not really worked out for him at all has it . For the most part a starter for Roma , picked for the Italy 2012 Euros squad then joined a manger who he worked with before and who trusts young players a great deal . Lets see but i suspect he'll have to drop down to work his way back up .

I've never heard a player scream so loudly whenever he's tackled. I bet you could hear the little weasel from right at the top of the upper centenary.

I've gone all peterhague on this one now.

Yup.

This is no Henderson situation. We've got better players than he'll ever be in his position and at most he'll get the odd game in the cups or if we are desperate so there is unlikely to be an opportunity for him to win anyone over.

Well since he's here might as well play him if needed.

We got no young strikers besides Yesil as back-up for the League Cup anyway.

Depends what Brendan told him really. May have been "you won't get many games but I do want you around. However, if you want to play regularly ...."

Rodgers basically told him to fuck off last week.
He was probably holding out for a move to Italy. Both Inter and Milan were interested but only in a loan.
My predicition: 2 apperances before January and sold for 5 mill.

He's at an age were he needs to play and when you get a payrise of 30-50% aswell its baffeling.
90k a week sounds like horrible representation.

You get the impression from what Rodgers was saying about everyone knowing where they stand that he wanted him to leave... unless it was primarily with Assaidi in mind.

I'm guessing what he meant by that was that the likes of Borini, Lucas etc knew that they wouldn't be getting much game time, so it was up to them.

The main thing is, Suso is staying! (upto now anyway).

Put it this way if I was Sturridge or Ballotelli I wouldn't be drinking any tea given to me by Borini.

We are really really shit at getting shot of our unwanted players, even the ones on lowish wages. Shame if it prevented the " one more " from coming in.

You lot are mental.

Free workout sessions almost everyday, free access to games at Anfield at your viewing pleasure, free access to world class sporting and club facilities (Melwood), almost stress-free job (sitting on the bench is all you'd have to strive for each week)....and many, many more perks....all that while getting paid shit loads of money every week.

Now tell me, why wouldn't ANYONE want to stay ?

It's almost like the best job ever !

He's thinking that if one of our main strikers get injured then he'll get on the bench. I think he's wrong. I think Rodgers would prefer to go one up top or stick sterling up there if needed. In reality borini is like our fifth or sixth choice.
