Macca...what does he mean by this?

@JSinclair_48: Sometimes things just aren't meant to be! Exciting times though! New chapter pending, Can't wait to see where this year takes me

Probably not selected for pre season and off on a loan.
He's very highely rated. Cant see us selling him.

There are some rumours that him and the club have failed to meet agreement on a new contract.

I don't know for sure at the mo. What I do know is that one consequence of the Sterling saga is that the club is now being much more circumspect in the contracts they offer young players, with the aim of making them hungrier and less pampered, and unfortunately Sinclair happened to be the next one in line for talks, so his agent is pretty pissed off. I don't think anything has been decided one way or the other, although there was talk of him going on loan to Burnley.

Liverpool youngster Jerome Sinclair rejects new Anfield contract - sources

Liverpool youngster Jerome Sinclair has turned down the offer of a new deal and asked to leave the club, sources have told ESPN FC.

Sinclair, 18, is highly regarded at Anfield and was handed his Premier League debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge towards the end of last season.

The striker became the youngest player ever to play for the club when he made his debut in a Capital One Cup win at West Brom in September 2012 at the age of 16 years and six days.

Sinclair, who has been tipped as one of the best prospects to emerge from Liverpool in recent years, had a spell on loan at Wigan Athletic last season but made just one appearance.

He was not included in Liverpool's squad for the preseason trip to Asia and Australia amid uncertainty over his future.

£60 million please.

Fall out from Sterling this. The club don't want to pay big money to young players til they've earned it. Other clubs will do.

A potentially huge loss for us this one.

And so it begins.

And so it begins.

We aren't in a good position here though - do we pay them what they think they're worth, or incentive contracts etc ... Will a top team take him and 'help him' be the player he can be? Doubtful ... Look at the graveyards known as Chelsea, Citeh etc unless you're 'ready' (and even then!).

Unfortunate.

It's not just down to money, though. He's a sensible kid. He also wanted assurances that he'd get a proper chance. That's what I was alluding to a while ago - while on the outside there's still all of this 'Rodgers at least gives kids a chance,' on the inside - to some extent understandably - there's more scepticism about how true that still is. As the pressure's built on Rodgers, he's been less evident at the academy and reserve games, and seemingly less trusting of the up and coming talent. Most of the hype came from Sterling; since then the pattern has been more about players going out on loan, then going out on loan again, rather than getting the same kind of break here. So while the hype goes on outside - and even from new arrivals like Ings - some of the young lads have watched the new signings last summer and this, in positions they've been hoping to graduate to, and wondered just how open the road is in terms of progressing into first team contention. So it's a tense time. It would do the mood the world of good, as well as help a young player who genuinely deserves it, if Ryan Kent, say, was given a bit of a push forward on this summer tour and at the start of next season. The kids need to re-believe in the manager's philosophy.

Disappointing read that is ... Any chance to change this with Sinclair? I'm sure a contract with 'first team assurances' could work no?

I think it's pretty odd if he's being difficult, but let's not blow this out of proportion. He's not a particularly outstanding prospect, certainly not in the Sterling or Ibe class, or even IMO the Kent or Wilson one.

As it stands he's a long shot to make it in the first team.

I can understand the reluctance in playing youth in the striker, centre back and gk positions. They're the ones with the most to lose confidence wise.

Yes. But our greatest strength in terms of up and coming talent is in the wide attacking positions. Last summer Ibe was sent on loan and Lallana and Markovic brought in. Than Sterling started his whining about being played out of position. I'm not saying the view was right, but some young players started to question how pro Rodgers really is about bringing on the kids.

Its is a valid concern. When he does play them, they seem on a hiding to nothing.

Token minutes for Smith and sinclair against Chelsea, brannagan on the bench but never given a little run about

Does seem like Rodgers uses the kids (arf!) more for mind games with the owners

No young talent who leaves Liverpool ever prospers really.

Different ball games these days as we quite far down the food chain. It's possible we'll now lose some of our better prospects through their choice; not just the ones we cast aside. Maybe Sinclair is an example, though I don't really know how good he actually is.

Sterling's mum told us that if he didn't get to play more he would move. He played more and moved anyway. No idea how clubs are meant to play these games anymore.

We're not that far down the food chain though are we? He might get an offer from another prem team that will play him every week (Burnley, Bournemouth, Leicester etc) or be lured to a Spurs, Swansea or Newcastle, or go and fuck his career but improve his bank balance at Citeh or Chavski. Ultimately if we offer him what we think he's worht and he turns it down then it's down to him to do what he thinks best. shame though.

Well, we've just bought Origi and Ings into the squad so he knows that there is no chance of getting a breakthrough. If we're not willing to pay him top whack either... why stay?

It seems to be a standard pattern with all our managers. Even with Rafa, first year he was praised for giving youth a chance - Mellor, Potter, FSP, LT - all got chances especially in the Carling cup run. By the third year, the squad was padded out with so many players that there was no way for youth. Having said that the youth team of today appears to be a different level compared to the youth teams of 10 years ago.

BR has shown that he trusts youth by playing the likes of Sterling, Ibe, and flanno.

Really bizzare decsion from sinclair because unless players really are special (owen/Rooney) esque, youth rarely make thier breakthrough until later.

I suppose Jerome has been told he's the chosen one for quite a while, even though he hasn't quite pushed on enough to make his breakthrough. It is a shame, because there is a player there, no doubt.
