Pochettino to Chelsea?

Chelsea seem to be free spending as far as I can see

2017 - 232mill
2016 - 120mill
2015 - 81mill
2014 - 124mill

Granted they sell a fair bit now, but if Poch had 232mill to spend in a summer......

He could get half a Salah for that

You reckon? It's possible I guess, but he seems to have been a long time target for United, if they get him I give up.
Madrid have been strongly linked with Kane for several years and Levy and Madrid have a history of doing business.

I think Poch is just using this as leverage to get a pay increase and more money for players at spurs personally.

40 of that was on Danny Drinkwater. Another 70 on Morata. Utter toss.
Wiki give Morata as 58m ? Also 2017/18 : Bakayoko 40m, Rudiger 29m, Drinkwater 35m, Zappacosta 23m, Barkley 15m, Palmieri 17m and Giroud 18m.

They got around 180m back from sales.

Unlucky !!

They will defo have the most expensive Squad in Europa League!

As far as Poch to Chelsea is concerned ... I'd expect Spurs to fight that with everything they've got.

Well, he has a 3 year contract, so Levy is in a strong position. I'd say this: if Poch goes to Chelsea it will be the largest managerial compensation payment in football history. If Poch acts like an utter cunt, as he may well have in the locker, then Levy might accede.

I hope its true and drags on over the entire summer, fucking up both clubs.

I actually think Potch has reached his ceiling at Spurs. I doubt money would make him that much better, because whilst he's bought a lot of good, he's also bought some of dross (Sissoko, Janssen and i'd argue Lucas), and his best players where either signed before he joined, or were academy / young buys. I think he'll improve Chelsea a little, make them more of a solid and drilled unit, but he won't turn them into title contenders, and the drop off at Spurs who he's overachieving with would be considerable in my books. Win win.

Going to Chelsea is just as alluring as going to Real or Barca. Yes big budget and salary but not the 100% control over transfers and the job security you need or want as a manager. With the £1bn new stadium they're purse strings will be tight.
I'm surprised the man with as much honours as Ancelloti is still out of a job.
God forbid Everton try to get him.

Did they really spend £232m last year???? Incredible. Who did they buy for that?? But they now face the kind of legal problems that took us about twenty+ years to sort out before the stadium rebuild could happen, and Chelski face having to sort all of those out in a matter of a year. It's an obscene amount of money its costing them and there's no mood to spend much on the squad now.

IF Abramovich can be persuaded to give the manager a 'free reign', then it might be an attractive job for someone like Pochettino. The no. of talented players out on loan and in their youth team (yes, FA Youth Cup has little value but to win it 5 times in a row is still quite a feat) suits someone like him. Prima donna may be too strong a word but this squad has played a part in (backed) stabbing 2 managers. Besides, would Pochettino's work fit in well with a team of 'star names'?

They did. Morata, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Rudiger, Zappacosta, Emerson, Giroud, Barkley.

Abramovitch might not be the biggest spender in England anymore but they are the highest spenders after the Manc clubs. Not sure how it compares to Arsenal though.

Zzzzzz I'm wasted here. I listed all of the players Chelsea bought, and the amounts paid, on the last page !

Didn't Barkley and Giroud sign this year?

Yes, both in January. And Palmieri.

Either way, they haven't been able to blow everyone out of the water like they used to (they didn't seem keen on paying £75m for VVD, who was wabted by Conte), and also seem to be at least trying to keep a lid on extravagant wages and transfer fees for individuals, but if you add it all up, the likes of Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Morata, Bakayoko et al still represent a very big outlay, even if some of it was offset by sellling Matic, Cuadrado and er.......oh yeah Ake.

Levy will sell Kane to Madrid.
Ive just pictured his face staring round the dressing room bemused as all the other players are laughing and joking, a thin string of drool hovering inches above the floor one eye twitching slightly mouth as always agape.

Chelsea are a weird club these these days, it feels like one of those clueless good old fashioned British pundits has become their director of football, Glenn Hoddle or the likes.

It's a woman I believe

Now, not to seem misogynistic, but she clearly should be making the tea instead over overseeing transfers

Yep, there's some money being spent alright, the others have listed the players, but you've got:

Chelsea
2017 - 232mill
2016 - 120mill
2015 - 81mill
2014 - 124mill

City
2017 - 285mill
2016 - 192mill
2015 - 194mill
2014 - 80mill

Utd
2017 - 148mill
2016 - 166mill
2015 - 140mill
2014 - 175mill

So there's not a lot in it with those 3, and they don't seem to be letting up.

I think Poch would consider the Utd job but not the Chelsea one because of the obvious - fans and the owner being a jackass.

Nah.... I don't see it...

It's just Chelsea rent boy Journos writing stories to make Chelsea appear impressive.

Shit club for shit fans...

Fuck em.

I still don't think Chelski's spending will be anything like what it's been up until now. They have a £1billion+ stadium to build between now and 2023, astronomical legal fees (far more than expected due to complications) to pay, and after paying off Conte I don't see them acting in the market like they've done until recently. So as I said, if Pochettino feels frustrated at Spurs, Chelski probably won't feel much better.

Another thing to note of course is that although Chelsea got extremely lucky when Abramovich took them over it is no longer the case that he can just buy the league like he used to, they are no longer the financial powerhouse they were 15 years ago.

City is owned by a flipping country, a country who are not suffering from sanctions...when players are being bought and sold for hundreds of millions even a billionaire might feel more reticent flashing cash...

EITHER way... I'm guessing that Hazard might want to fuck off... Chelsea have got real problems, even spending fairly big wads of cash they can't just go and buy the best players at huge fees now, the huge fees are genuinely eye watering.
