Oncy et al nails it.

Modo doesn't bother me at all, but the responses to his posts makes watching paint dry seem like a Brazilian carnival in comparison.

There is exactly zero chance of educating people not to rise to his baiting, so a temp ban for Modo is the only solution.

A shame so many people are unable to control their emotions though.

It may be time. Pity.

Anyways, back on topic, surely Rossiter needs to hit the gym a little if he wants to step
Up. He looked like he'd wandered in from a Lowry.

Yeah, ban poor Modo, as it's our fault for rising to him and nothing at all to do with him being a troll.

Have to say some of the points Modo makes are right as well - there are typically players who it is 'fashionable' to heap praise on or to lay criticism on. That is nothing new. He is no similar in his long term championing of a player than the likes of Mystic was with Hendo, KHL was with Agger, Oncy was with Aquilani, Ryan is with Allen, GKMacca with Yesil, ILD with Rodriguez etc.

We all have our favourite players, times when we think a player is being criminally under rated.

That's not what he was saying. He was just suggesting that people (grown adults, no less) should perhaps be better at ignoring those they don't get on with. Does rising to it EVERY SINGLE TIME stop it from happening? Do you ever see him conceding the point? All your responses do is stoke the fire, and leads to pages and pages of toing and froing. And if you're not capable of ignoring him, then why not use the ignore function? It's what it's designed for! You stomping around the forum chomping at every piece of bait that Modo dangles in front of you is every bit as tedious as the baiting itself.

I honestly don't know whether Modo means half of what he says or whether he just does it for a rise. The fact is though, he is part of the furniture around here, and has shown on enough occasions that he's not a bad sort. I've never been into banning people. In fact, I think a hands-off approach to moderating is one of the cornerstones of this forum, and one of the things that has kept many of us coming back here over the years. As such, I say people should just learn to live with him.

I dont think you can have people on ignore when you are a Mod.

Thats the problem Mark has.

I dont mind Modo, but then again I don't bother posting much in the footy forum cos its JARG

Look, I agree it is the cornerstone of the site to not ban people, I've basically said that as a last resort, not to ban him but something. People are basically advocating him being left to it because:

It's just his style
He means no harm
People shouldn't rise to it.

Like I said in another post. Read his posts this week, practically every one has been a wind up of sorts. I'm all for free speech but there's a line, surely? If not, then the leniency in moderating is going to the other extreme.

And for the record, one of the more frustrating things about this is that he *is* a good poster when being normal, but he goes off the rails far too often on some subjects. We all have our favourites and pet hates, but this isn't really the same as the standard opinions you see on here, and I fail to understand why people keep trying to pass it off as such.

Look at this, I came in expecting something about the Boro game and it's more of this Guff. He's been given enough chances to stop trolling. Short term ban, until be commits to stop ruining threads by trolling. Wen you troll, you are responsible for the hang over too. And I quite like the lad, but I am so tired of these threads.

Asking people to ignore Modo misses the fucking point. Any one of us can ignore him, but unless everyone does, all the time, to any of his trolling posts, which amount to about 90% of everything he posts, then the problem remains: the bickering for everyone else to read. That's what originally got me riled at him: not what he wrote, because that's transparent drivel, but the constant bickering ruining threads. And that won't change unless virtually everyone ignores him, which is in effect the same as banning him.

So, y'know, why not just fucking ban the twat????

Given that he's one of the dopiest fuckers on here that's hardly likely to perturb me.

LOL Summeronions obviously still not got over me calling him out on being a pretentious tosser.

You should have taken it in the spirit of advice.

@Mystic

Come on then, you thick twat, out with it. What's your problem with me?

I'm happy to discuss it.
I didn't actually have any problem with you, my comment was just a joke based upon how right wing your views are over Modo and his "saps", now you've started calling me nasty names I'm not so keen on you though.

I've never had much of a problem with @cloggypop tbf, he seems sound enough. He's never missed an opportunity to snipe at me right from the start, though, so I guess he finds it even harder to tolerate my views than he does to argue against them.

But otherwise he's ok. No hard feelings if he hates me, particularly.

Well I consider what you said to me to be an insult, and an unprovoked one.

So tough.
