There seems to be quite a lot of chatter in the LFC media about who should be the number one goalkeeper again.
Obviously when Karius arrived, he was supposed to go straight into the side, but injury curtailed that, and allowed Mignolet (yet another) stay of execution. When Karius was fit again, we didn't have to wait long to see him displace Mignolet, only to be so catastrophically shit that Mignolet was soon back in again.
So while most of us were desperate for the conundrum to be resolved over summer - not by Klopp choosing one or the other, but by actually buying a top quality new keeper - this was one of many transfer window disappointments.
Rumours of Mignolet leaving were rumbling, but the first game saw Mignolet start as Number One, and then proceed to let in 3 goals. But that's nothing too surprising given how shit the rest of the defence is.
But was Klopp going to swap keepers in Europe? Or the cups?
Then Klopp blindsided everyone with the weird decision to drop Mignolet for the crucial Premiership Arsenal game and play Karius, who kept a clean sheet. But then Mignolet was back in.
It's never been made clear exactly what the fuck that was all about, but given we have once again already got one of the worst goals against records in the league, with only one team conceding more than us, and an average of 2 goals conceded per game in all competitions, it seems as if the debate of Karius vs Mignolet is once again the hot topic, which will be under scrutiny again tomorrow with Karius tipped to start.
So, who should be our number one?
