After his ridiculous sending off at the end of Argentina’s 1-1 draw in Ecuador, Javier Mascherano fronted up and explained to the press why he kicked out at the driver of the stretcher buggy. The Barcelona midfielder apologised for kicking the driver of the stretcher buggy: “One preaches non violence in our country and in this I was mistaken. My reaction was not justified.” Mascherano added: “I feel ashamed. I don’t like to generate controversy. And I am big enough to admit my mistakes. This embarrasses me. Saddens me.” There was a pretty large caveat to the Argentine’s apology though where Mascherano seemed to blame the driver of the stretcher buggy! Mascherano: “The stretcher buggy was going too fast and I was about to fall. I warned him (the driver) and he ignored me, but what I did was not justified.” Watch the incredible incident again on the video below. Followed by Javier Mascherano’s post-match interview in Spanish. View: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l8WRLJWHUKQ
