Looks like Warner has attempted to throw a few more under the bus to spread the blame (and dilute his own culpability), and his mates have told him to do one.  Which is all good.

Agreed. I think the reaction is a way over the top. But I think it is due to two reasons.

First is the level of planning which went into this. This is not a simple applying saliva or chewing gum type scandal. I found the amateurishness kinda funny.

Second and the most important reason IMO is because it was done by this incredibly unlikable Aussie team. It reminds me of some politicians who spent their lives preaching about family values and get caught having sex with their staff.

I think the main motivating factor isn't other cricketing nations enjoying the schadenfreude of this unlikeable team coming a cropper. It is the response of Australian cricket supporters, and the Australian nation to the act.  They're not for making excuses for these people. They're disgusted.  There's something about that baggy green cap that's sacrosanct among the Aussies.  They're mortified. They feel utterly betrayed.  No other nation would crucify the players to the same extent, but no other nation sees the cricket team as a shining avatar for their country in the same way.

That clip with the BBC guy haranguing Lehmann in the airport is hilarious.

'Darren, did you cheat during the Ashes?'

'Darren, did you cheat during the Ashes?'

'Darren, did you cheat during the Ashes?'

'Sorry to ask one more time, Darren. Did you cheat during the Ashes?'

Darren must have wanted to knock him into oblivion.

Cricket Australia.. Only 3 people knew.

Bullshit.. Smith said on Saturday that the players leadership group all knew. Which is at least 5 players.

    Cricket Australia.. Lehmann didn't know.

Bullshit.. He was straight on that walkie talkie to the 12th man.

    Still convicts will be convicts.

Aye being over the top my arse. The reaction is right and just. Fucking massive blatant cheating orchestrated by no less than the captain, vice captain, and more than likely the coach - All the while asking the least senior member of the team to do it as Warner thinks all camera's would be on him. Despicable cunt. Ban the fuckers for 12 months. Also I guess that would mean (as someone else pointed out) they would miss the ashes in England. That would be a shame because it fun to see the reception they get.

12 months would mean they'd be available for the ashes. As part of the punishment they should all be named as definite starters in the ashes series.

I cannot believe Lehmann and the pace bowlers got away with no punishment. Looks like CA is ensuring that most of the blame falls on Warner.

Li'l ol' Davey will come out swinging if he's being made a acapegoat.

Maybe the best of this saga is yet to come.

12 month bans for Smith and Warner according to Jim Maxwell. Pretty severe.

I'm not surprised, and actually, I'll be surprised if Warner gets to pull on the baggy green cap again.  Smith will be serve his time, but probably will never captain Australia again.

Still stunned that deplorable hypocrite oafcunt Lehmann gets to see out his contract

Justin Langer is ready to coach Australia and has the added bonus of not being a massive cunt

It’s so completely wonderful to see Warner’s career crumble before him.

If he was able to, at the start of his career, wind himself back to 70% cunt instead of his natural predisposition (100%) he would have been captain for the last 3 years. Now he’s hopefully back to ‘cleanup in aisle five’

Would love to see Sonny Bill Williams get called up to open

I'm only disappointed we cannot continue to go at Smith ... it was obvious our bowlers were eager to go after him, and 142 runs after 6 innings shows who came out on top.

It is severe in the context of how any cricket board has addressed things of this nature before. Loss of earnings in those 12 months is significant and I think this sets a great prescedent for any other players thinking of similar things in the future.

I wonder if the media will grill Smith & Warner like Sky News did Carragher.
